從物型重建的角度來看，影像直線特徵較點特徵物具有更高階的資訊，而配合影像處理技術，邊緣線偵測及萃取自動化作業將變得簡易而有效率。對於都市地區的航測影像來說，人工建物為主要的地物，此種地物最大特色就是由多面體所組成，而多面體的輪廓常為影像中的邊緣線所描述，本文嘗試在立體像對中利用線特徵物觀測量求解方位元素，並獲得三維線特徵物之空間資訊。
立體像對在無物空間資訊約制下(如控制點或線特徵物間之條件)，僅利用共軛特徵線組成觀測方程式時，此時每一對共軛特徵線提供2個約制方程式，而線本身未知數個數為6個(或在某些約制下為4個)，因此並不構成求解條件，本研究利用建物面(多面體)上豐富之邊緣線，在同一平面上利用n組共軛邊緣線共面的約制，將未知數個數由4n減至3個，因而產生多餘觀測。當然以此為模組之計算邏輯倘若加入物空間約制，即將相對方位模型轉至絕對方位模型。在解得攝影測量方位參數之後，利用平差後的線特徵物觀測量作前方交會計算線特徵物在物空間的三維資訊，而完整的共面直線特徵便規劃出一平面的範圍，這些平面將作為物型重建之基本單元。
本研究除建立求解的邏輯演算法則外，同時利用模擬資料分析物空間特徵幾何分佈對成果之影響，最後並以實際影像之測試結果提供後續研究之參考。

ABSTRACT
From the standpoint of object reconstruction, linear feature easily extracted from image via image processing technique is of higher-level information than its counterpart, point feature. It is especially advantageous of employing linear feature when considering the urban photographs in which the man-made buildings, polyhedron-type, are the main structure in the scene. This study was motivated by the above fact and aimed at solving for photogrammetric orientation and performing three-dimensional object reconstruction by observations which are composed of linear features.
By only collecting conjugate linear features in a stereopair without imposing any further constraint, the unique solution of relative orientation is not possible because the unknowns outnumbers the observations always. On the other hand, coplanar constraints of linear features, whenever possible, reducing tremendously the unknowns and bringing about redundancy, leads to orientation solution. Besides, the absolute orientation can be made successfully if adding the solved relative orientation with constraints valid in the object space.
In this study an algorithm, based on Pesta’s work, solving for relative orientation by using coplanar linear features is appreciated and the absolute orientation adding constraints has been mathematically formulated. The impact of geometry as well as accuracy of linear features on the orientation was thoroughly analyzed by simulated data. Furthermore, an experimental test on a real aerial stereopair over urban area has been conducted for the purposes of solving orientation and demonstrating object reconstruction.
