本研究主要在探討差異化服務網路模式(differentiated services networks)下的服務定價模式和使用者行為之間的關係。我們將整個網路頻寬服務的定價問題以非合作式(non-cooperative)的赛局模型來分析。根據我們的分析結果,我們發現在一個具有多樣化服務的差異化服務網路系統中,網路使用者只選擇能提供他們最高價值(value)的網路服務。這個使用者所感受到的價值不但決定於網路服務的品質,也同時決定於該網路服務的定價方式,因此本研究也顯示了定價模型的設計在網路及頻寬分配與管理中具有重要的功能。

In this paper we study user behavior under the differentiated services pricing system. We analyze the provision problem by abstracting highly the differentiated services pricing model. By formulating the model as a non-cooperative game, we have analyzed and found that facing multiple choices of service classes and the associated service charges and qualities, the users will choose the service class that can provide them with the highest value. The perceived value depends not only on the service quality but also on the service price. Thus, our analysis shows that pricing does play an important role in allocating users among the various differentiated services. Furthermore, we also study the PMP and priority system as an application of our analysis.
