ABSTRACT In order to derive a model of sediment transport for the upstream water shed in Taiwan, this study uses un-uniform grains as the materials of this particular experiment. Thus the models for critical discharge and sediment transport could be obtained as follows: qc=6.176×10-8×Dg1.16×S-1.64 Ds= D50 =38.092×Dg-0.458×S3.56× Ds= D50 In which, qc=critical discharge (cms/m); Dg=dimensionless grain parameter (Dg= ); Ds=represetative grain diameter, Ds=D50 +ασ, α=coefficient, σ=standard deviation; S=slope; qs=bed-load discharge (cms/m); q=flow discharge (cms/m). Another sediment transport model which contains the same factor as the above, can be derived form 718 existing experiment data including this study. In whichα is close to zero. Inother words, Ds= D50 is still a better represetative grain diameter.
