高品質產品主要以時間、品質、成本與服務為成功競爭的因素,再加上其知識管理。 而且,產品品質的好壞乃依據其設計的好壞。 產品設計中的設計知識是隱性並且不易分享,或者只存在於使用自然語言的文件中。設計知識管理對產品設計而言是具有決定性的影響。 為了容易的溝通與分享設計知識於分散式環境,隱性知識必需外化成顯性知識,例如:產品規格、科學公式或是生產法則;並且使用資訊技術將顯性設計知識加以結合與分享。 因此,應用分散式技術來進行塑模、儲存及分享設計知識是必須的。 然而,目前的分散式技術仍有許多的限制,如:元件間的偶合度過高或是與防火牆衝突。到目前為止,新一代的分散式技術-網站服務,將取代這些現有的分散式技術。 本論文提出了一個以代理人為基礎的網站服務架構來進行知識的外化、結合與分享。 特別是著重於模組化產品設計的知識管理。本研究提出的方法包含模組化產品的塑模、轉換設計知識成外顯知識、利用資料探勘技術發現新的設計知識以及應用網站服務和代理人技術分享設計法則,並且以實際的資訊家電設計組裝廠商的機上盒設計為例。

The emergence of the high quality product with the consideration of high time (T), quality (Q), cost (C), and service (S) factors is at the core of successful competition and knowledge management. The product quality, however, lies on its design. Product design is such a business process that design knowledge is often tacit and not easy to share, or only available in forms of natural language documents. The management of design knowledge is crucial and therefore, it impacts on product design. To be easily communicated and shared in a distributed environment, tacit design knowledge has to be externalized as explicit knowledge, e.g., in product specification or a scientific formula or production rules; and the explicit design knowledge has to be combined and shared into applicable ones through the use of Information Technology. The modeling, store and share of design knowledge with distributed IT are required. However, current distributed technologies are rather unwieldy, entail too tight a coupling between components and above all conflict with existing firewall technology. By this time, a new generation of distributed computing is replacing current distributed technologies by Web services. This thesis presents an agent-based Web service approach to knowledge externalization, combination, and sharing; specifically focuses on the knowledge management of modular product design. The solution approach involves modelling modular products, formulating the explicit knowledge, discovering new design knowledge with the data mining, and sharing the design rules with Web services and the agent technology. The proposed approach is applied to a real-world case of set-top box design/assembly in one of the largest IA (information appliance) manufacturing enterprises.
