摘　要
越南與中國「山連山，水連水」，雙方關係自來就有其地緣因素和歷史文化背景，如同一條剪不斷的臍帶，隨著時代的邁進而一齊往前發展。
在一九五Ｏ年，越南民主共和國 （從1976統一後改成社會主義共和國） 與中華人民共和國建立正式外交關係，雙方「同志加兄弟」的親密階段持續近廿幾年；然而，此一關係卻在七十年代末和八十年代，逐漸惡化並轉為相互對立。
一九九Ｏ年代初期，人類歷史發生許多重大變動，冷戰結束使得雅爾達體系瓦解，世界邁向新的里程碑，出現多極化的政治、經濟秩序格局。在這變動的大環境底下，不論是大國或小國，都必須重新調整自己的發展戰略與對外關係策略。越南以及中國也無法置身於這變動的大環境之外，因此雙方在一九九一年正式將關係「正常化」，結束廿幾年相互敵視的低潮階段。
本論文將主要集中總結雙方正常化關係十年來的發展態勢（一九九一至二ＯＯ一年）；而為了說明其重要性，首先我們必須回顧越中關係的歷史背景：雙方的關係從親密轉為對抗（一九五Ｏ至一九七五年），其後，從對抗轉為友好（一九七五至一九九一年）；此一段轉變的過程是如何進行的？其次，為何雙方的關係會有此「轉折」？而雙方關係在轉折為正常化後十年間，在各個領域上，如政治、外交、經濟以及文化上，有些怎麼樣的發展？一些仍然存在於雙方間的問題，將會如何解決？越南加入東協組織、中國加入世貿組織，將對雙方關係有些什麼影響？這些都是本論文的主要探討內容。
除此之外，周圍的國際環境、區域環境，以及大國關係，如東協、美國和俄國，在某些特定時點對雙方關係的影響狀況，都會是本論文研究的問題。
綜合各階段的分析，本論文將對越中未來的關係展望提出一些評價與看法。

Abstract
Vietnam and China are contiguous with each other， their mountains neighbour each other and some rivers flow through both countries. Their bilateral relations have growth out of geographical and historical roots. They are joined by an indestructible umbilical cord which will continue to connect them in the future.
In 1950， the Democratic Republic of Vietnam （transformed into the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 1976 when reunified） established official diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. Both sides maintained intimate relations as “brothers and comrades” for over twenty years. However， the relations gradually worsened into confrontation in the 1970s and 1980s.
At the beginning of the 1990s， human history changed greatly in many ways. The end of the Cold War made the Yalta System collapse. The world passed a milestone and saw the emergence of a politico-economic structure which was multi-polar. In this changing macro-environment， all countries， big and small， had to readjust their strategies of development and foreign relations. Vietnam and China could not put themselves outside this macro-environment， either. Therefore， the two sides normalised their relations in 1991， ending an antagonistic period of over twenty years.
This thesis sums up the developments during the ten years （1991-2001）， which followed the normalisation of relations between the two sides. In order to explain the importance of this period， we have to recall the historical background between Vietnam and China: from intimacy to conflict （1950-1975）， from conflict to friendship （1975-1991）. How did this change come about? Second， why was there a turn-around in bilateral relations? During the ten years which followed the normalisation， what were the most important developments in politics， diplomacy， economic and culture? How will the remaining problems be solved? Vietnam joined ASEAN. China joined the WTO. How will these decisions affect the two sides? All these are the main subjects of this thesis.
In addition， how the surrounding international environment， regional environment and major state relations influenced both sides in a given time and given place are the issues of this research. For example， ASEAN， the United States and Russia.
In a nutshell， after the analysis on the various stages above， this thesis will propose a few comments and prospects on the future relations between Vietnam and China.
