摘要
由於台北都會區位於台北盆地之上，而盆地內的各種地質環境和地質災害，與生活在盆地上的居民息息相關。因此，為了要了解台北盆地內的地質環境以及潛在的災害，本文藉由台北盆地內之八口岩心，對其內之沉積物做詳細的紀錄及描述，以進行岩相的分析來從事沉積地層的劃分以及地層之間的比對，並藉以探討台北盆地古沉積環境變遷的過程。
依據分析的結果顯示，台北盆地的演變主要是受到構造運動、火山作用和全球海水面波動的影響。而其演變的過程是，大約在八十萬年前，由於火山和斷層的活動頻繁，使得台北盆地開始陷落，當時的沉積環境以沖積扇為主，之後逐漸轉變為河道及氾濫平原環境。一直到四十萬年前，火山碎屑流將古淡水河道出口堵塞，盆地內一度形成堰塞湖，之後湖水潰堤出海。到了二十萬年前，火山活動再度活躍，盆地內仍以河道及氾濫平原系的沉積為主。直到六、七千年前，由於全球海水面的上升，海水開始進入台北盆地，盆地內因此形成了半淡水的河口灣，之後海水逐漸退去，並再度以河積的環境沉積至今。

Abstract
Taipei, the metropolis of Taiwan, is located in the Taipei Basin. The geological background and the potential disasters intimately affect the daily lives of the citizen. Therefore, eight cores were taken form the Taipei Basin. And then litho-facies analysis is conducted to construct the stratigraphic framework and interpret the sedimentary environment of the Quaternary deposit in the basin. Integrated of sedimentary facies, tectonic structures, fossils and dating provides insight to the formation and later evolution of the Taipei Basin.
The formation and evolution of the Taipei Basin is mainly controlled by the local tectonics, Tatun volcanic activities and eustatic sea-level changes. About 0.8 Ma, the local tectonics was changed from compressional to tensional setting. Accompanied by volcanic processes, part of the once uplifted piedmont started sinking to form the Taipei Basin through normal faulting. Alluvial fans were developed in front of the fault scarps. As the basin gradually infilled, the basin was shifted from alluvial to fluvial environment. The Tatun volcanoes erupted again around 0.4Ma. The paleo-Tanshui River was block by larhars and/or volcanic debris flow deposits. The Taipei Basin was thus dammed and become an inland lake. Soon afterward, the dam was collapsed turning the lacustrine back to fluvial setting.
After a minor volcanic activities at 0.2 Ma, the eustatic sea-level started rising from around six or seven thousand years ago. The basin was once become a brackish estuary.
Afterwards, the estuary was gradually infilled by fluvial processes untill present.
