摘要
台灣島位於歐亞大陸板塊和菲律賓海板塊的斜向聚合處,是呂宋隱沒系統(包括馬尼拉海溝和呂宋島弧)和琉球隱沒系統(包括琉球海溝、琉球島弧和沖繩海槽)的轉換帶。為一個沿歐亞大陸板塊邊緣向西南方行進的孤子波;在台灣東北地區正在崩塌,而臺灣南部地區則有活躍的造山運動。為了進一步了解台灣南部地區造山運動的現況和原因,本文先利用地磁、地形、地質及由衛星資料估算之地表伸張或縮短量找出在台灣南部地區因歐亞板塊和菲律賓海板塊聚合而被擠壓的地體構造帶邊界。然後本文再利用中央氣象局地震測報中心所紀錄並定位的地震震源分佈,配合由層析學方法求取的波速構造,探討與台灣南部地區造山運動相關之岩石圈構造。在台灣東方海域底下的菲律賓海板塊岩石圈包含表面附近各約20公里厚的上下兩個副層,上層較硬為地震密集層,下層較軟、溫度較高、壓力較大,為地震相對較少的層。由此兩副層之地震密度和分布特性及磁力異常分布特性可知,菲律賓海板塊岩石圈被呂宋島弧底下的熔岩軟化,且被向東隱沒的南海岩石圈阻擋而沿其岩石圈表面撓曲向上且向西逆衝,並將覆蓋在其上的沉積物推高,此即為「台灣造山運動」之機制。
Abstract
Taiwan island is situated at the oblique convergence of the Eurasian continental and Philippine Sea plates. It is the transition zone between the Manila subduction system (including the Manila trench and Luzon arc) and Ryukyu subduction system (including the Ryukyu trench, Ryukyu arc and Okinawa trough). Taiwan island propagates southwestward as a solitary wave along the Eurasian continental plate margin. The northeastern Taiwan area is collapsing, but the southern Taiwan area is in active orogeny. In order to further understand the status and cause of the southern Taiwan orogeny, we first use magnetism, morphology, geology and the dilation of the ground surface to delineate boundaries between the squeezed tectonic zones due to the oblique convergence of the Eurasian continental plate and Philippine Sea plate. Then, we use the seismology and tomorgraphy to set up the model of the lithospheric tectonics for the orogeny of the southern Taiwan area. The Philippine Sea plate lithosphere includes two layers about 20 km thick each on top. The upper layer has high seismisity; the lower layer has relative low seismisity. From the attitude of these two layers and the distribution of magnetic anomaly, we infer that the Philippine Sea plate lithosphere has been heated by the magma under the Luzon arc and became soft there. Since the Philippine Sea plate lithosphere is obstructed by the South China Sea lithosphere that subducts eastward, the two layers on the former overthusts upward and westward along the surface of South China Sea lithosphere. They also uplift the covered sedimentary layer. This is the mechanism of the Taiwan ororgeny in southern Taiwan.
