幾丁質(chitin)是自然界僅次於纖維素之生物物質,在農業、醫療保健、食品加工、飼料、特用化學品、廢水處理、紡織及製紙工業上均有廣泛之應用。
本文係以1971年至2003年2月間的美國專利商標局專利資料庫為專利資料來源,進行幾丁質類相關技術專利分析,經由專利軟體Patent Guider 1.0分析及人工解讀後,篩選出570篇進行專利管理地圖分析。在相關研究的國家中,第一名為美國,共計擁有270件專利,1999年以30件達到頂峰;日本以142件居第二名,其他國家研究則明顯較少。台灣名列第十二名僅有3篇,均出自食品工業發展研究所。
最具競爭力公司十九家共產出專利件數149件,佔分析總案件數26.1%,排名第一名Wella Aktiengesellschaft之18篇專利案均為幾丁質類物質應用於化妝品或梳妝用配製品,且該公司專利產出總引證次數最高。The University of Delaware專利產出件數為13件,其每件專利平均被引用5.923次,表示研發成果品質高。專利引證次數最高者為US3953608,總共被引證21次,且皆為他公司所引證,影響公司數高達15家。近五(1998-2002)年幾丁質類產品在IPC分類,以醫藥配製品中特殊物理形態為特徵如軟膏、乳液劑型A61K9,含有機有效成分如烴類化合物A61K31兩類為最多。
在31篇與製備技術相關之專利案中,有22篇製備來源為甲殼類外殼,其中15篇以化學法處理,6篇以酵素法處理,1篇為物理方法。以微生物菌株生產幾丁質或幾丁聚醣計有9篇。11篇專利案(佔35.5%)說明會降低環境污染,8篇專利案(佔25.8%)強調提高幾丁聚醣溶解性或衍生物之親水性。
the past 5 years (from 1998 to 2002), in terms of IPC classification, chitin has been most often produced in the two forms of ointment and cream (A61K9) and an organic hydrocarbon A61K31.
In 31 patents relating to the preparation or fabrication technologies of chitin, 22 patents of them relate to using the shell of shellfish as the source of chitin; 15 patents of them are about chemical processing method; 6 patents of them are about physical processing method; 9 patents of them relate to using microorganisms to produce chitin or chitosan. 11 patents (comprising 35.5%) of them explain that chitin generates a lower level of pollution on the environment and 8 patents of them emphasize the high level of dissolution of chitin or the affinity of chitin derivatives for water.
