本論文探討家庭網路中控制封包對媒體傳輸的影響。我們假設在家庭網路中有許多多媒體串流傳送與接收之時,會有數個控制封包通過。我們發現除了大量的控制封包交會之外,多媒體串流可以表現的非常正確。假如有交會的現象發生時,有些媒體串流或是控制封包將會丟棄,進而造成資料流失。當控制封包的大小不斷成長,媒體串流的生產率將會快速的下降﹔當有更高的媒體串流傳輸率時,現象將會更明顯。而增加交換器的先進先出佇列長度將會改善丟棄現象。這顯示出在建構家庭網路時,家庭網路中控制封包對媒體串流的影響需要受到重視。

In this thesis the effect of control packets on media stream in
home network is discussed. We suppose several control packets
passing into the home network, in which the media streams are
sending and receiving. We find that multimedia streams would
perform correctly except the meet of massive control packets. If
meets, some media streams or control packets would drop, and cause data loss. With the growth of the size of control packet, media streams' throughput fall rapidly. When meeting higher transmission rate of media streams, their throughput may more fall. Adding the switch FIFO queue length would help drop. It shows that the effect of control packets on media streams in home network may need to be considered in the build of home network.
