The semantic-web concept has recently been proposed to help make machines read and understand the web pages in different domains. Especially, ontology is used to describe particular domain knowledge and related terms for logical inference. How to efficiently deal with different ontology and to combine them for forming an efficient, reusable and integrated ontology warehouse is thus an interesting and important research issue. In this thesis, we thus attempt to propose a framework of ontology warehouse to help increase the intelligent usage on the internet. It integrates several single ontologies to form a more useful ontology warehouse. Users can not only obtain information from each individual ontology, but can also get more sophisticated knowledge from the ontology warehouse. Modules on the framework are also designed to meet the requirements of building an ontology warehouse. These modules include analysis, selection, extraction, transformation, integration, ontology warehouse, ontology marts, and applications. Especially, a two-level analysis model is suggested to improve the efficiency of selecting and extracting relevant parts of different ontology sources. The proposed framework provides a feasible solution to sharing world-wide-web knowledge.
