目前堆肥生物濾床已被證實在去除揮發性有機化合物(Volatile Organic Compounds, VOCs)上是一快速且有效的處理方法。本實驗共分兩個階段,第一階段是將四種不同的介質(木炭球、活性碳、塑膠介質、保麗龍),以50%的體積比混合堆肥來去除異丙醇(IPA,進流濃度200 ppm),比較其對啟動速度及壓差的影響,並觀察在翻堆後是否能維持較長時間的去除效率。第二階段選擇第一階段表現最佳的介質,以四種不同比例混合堆肥,來探討堆肥比例對濾床的影響。
由第一階段的結果可以發現,在空床停留時間(empty-bed resident time, EBRT)90及60 sec時,四種不同介質濾床的表現差異性不大,但在EBRT 40及25 sec時,以活性碳及塑膠介質濾床的去除效率較佳,且塑膠介質混堆肥之濾床沒有壓差之問題,為最適合操作之濾料。
第二階段之試程,發現若EBRT大於40秒時,堆肥體積比80%之濾床去除效率佳,亦無壓差問題;而EBRT小於40秒時,堆肥比60%之濾床較能避免壓差的產生,此結果應可作為實場操作時之參考比例。
