成人在網路的溝通現況可探討的內容包含兩個面向，一個是網路使用者對哈伯瑪斯公共領域特性在網路溝通情境實踐現況的認知，另一個面向則是探討網路使用者在網路學習情境的網路溝通態度，並探討此二面向的關係；其中，網路溝通態度是以作為Habermas公共領域實踐方法的溝通行動理論作為理論根據。
本研究之研究目的如下：一、檢視Habermas「公共領域」概念在成人利用網路進行溝通時所知覺的網路公共領域實踐現況。二、檢視成人網路使用者以公共領域之達成策略為網路溝通態度的實踐情形。三、分析成人網路使用者不同背景變項對其網路溝通態度的影響。四、分析成人網路使用者不同背景變項對網路公共領域實踐情形的影響。五、探討成人網路使用者網路溝通態度及其網路公共領域特性實踐之關係。六、根據發現提出建議作為改進學術研究與隔空教育、網路學習的參考。
本研究的研究問題如下：一、解成人網路使用者在網路公共領域的實踐與網路溝通態度之現況如何?二、不同背景變項之成人網路使用者的網路溝通態度各層面及整體層面上是否有顯著差異情形?三、不同背景變項之成人網路使用者對網路公共領域各層面與整體層面的實踐是否有顯著差異情形?四、網路溝通態度與網路公共領域之各層面與整體層面的相關情形?五、不同背景變項及不同網路溝通態度(高、低分組)對網路公共領域的實踐影響情形?
研究發現：壹、網路溝通態度實踐現況趨近良好與網路公共領域特性的實踐現況中等。貳、不同背景變項之成人網路使用者在網路上之網路溝通態度各層面及整體層面上的差異情形，包含：一、性別會影響成人網路溝通態度之「溝通理性」層面；二、教育程度會影響成人網路溝通態度之「正當性」層面；三、是否為學習者影響成人網路溝通態度之「共識性」、「真誠真實性」層面；四、年齡、專業領域均不會影響成人網路使用者之網路溝通態度。參、不同背景變項之成人網路使用者在網路上之網路公共領域特性各層面及整體層面上的差異情形，其發現包含：一、性別會影響網路公共領域特性的實踐；二、年齡、教育程度、專業領域、是否為學習者不會影響網路公共領域的實踐。肆、網路溝通態度與網路公共領域之各層面與整體層面的關係，包含：一、整體網路公共領域特性的實踐及整體網路溝通態度呈中度正相關；二、整體網路公共領域特性的實踐與網路溝通態度之「溝通理性」層面相關最高；三、網路公共領域之「自由性」與網路溝通態度之「正當性」層面沒有相關。伍、不同背景變項及不同網路溝通態度(高、低分組)對網路公共領域的實踐影響情形，包含：一、「性別」對網路公共領域特性有主要效果；二、「網路溝通態度高低分組」對網路公共領域有主要效果。
研究結論如下：壹、網路公共領域特性整體實踐達中等，「自由性」層面趨近良好；貳、整體網路溝通態度實踐趨近良好，「正當性」的實踐不佳；參、網路溝通態度大部分不受個人背景變項影響；肆、網路提供不受社經背景影響的對話空間但無法突破性別上的差異；伍、在網路上應用Habermas公共領域方法論能破除背景變項限制。
研究建議：壹、對隔空教育教師或網路學習環境之設計者、管理者有七項建議：一、調查網路學習情境營造情形；二以網路設計學習輔助系統縮小年齡及專業領域所造成的溝通差異； 三、加強培養學習者之「溝通理性」；四、依課程目的加強培養女性的「溝通理性」；五、應用「網路公共領域特性問卷」建立網路學習環境的評鑑制度；六、立法建立制度化保障確保網路環境的「正當性」；七、協助建立「網路公共領域特性」「網路溝通態度」常模。貳、對未來進一步研究之建議，在研究對象方面，包含：(一) 以不同類型網站及其網路使用者為對象(二) 以正規與非正規非正式教育體制下之網路學習網站並其使用者為對象(三) 以強勢弱勢族群之專屬網站並其使用者為對象；在研究變項方面，可進一步探討網路溝通態度、網路公共領域特性的實踐與學習之相關問題之關係；在研究方法方面，包含：(一) 量化研究方面，建議統計分析法可採典型相關分析、徑路分析(二)藉入口網站的研究計畫合作案擴大蒐集研究對象的管道(三) 延長資料蒐集時間或採立意取樣蒐集樣本以呈現特殊或少數族群意見；在研究內容方面，包含：(一) 可進一步發展網路公共領域特性問卷題目及網路溝通態度問卷題目(二) 探討影響網路公共領域「自由性」或「影響性」的因素(三) 可探討造成性別在「溝通理性」差異原因。

The investigation into adults’ communication conditions on Internet included two dimensions. One is the Internet users’ cognition of practical condition of Internet communication in Habermas public sphere characters. The other dimension is the Internet users’ Internet communication attitudes towards the Internet learning situation and to investigate the relationship between the two dimensions. Internet communication attitude was based on action of communication attitude was based on action of communication theory for performing Habermas public sphere practical approach.
The goals of the research as follows: first, to examine the Internet public sphere practical condition that adults were aware of by using Internet to communicate. Secondly, examine the Internet adult users’ Internet communication attitude that is the strategies of public sphere. Third, analyze the effects of adult Internet public sphere. Fifth, investigate the relationship between adult Internet users’ communication attitude and Internet public sphere character practice. Sixth, according to the findings to make suggestions in order to improve academic research, distance education and Internet learning.
The questions of the research as follows: A. What is the present condition of the practice of Internet adult users in public sphere and the attitude of Internet communication? B. Is there any significant difference between each layer and the whole layer of the Internet communication attitude by Internet adult users from different background variables? C. Is there any significant difference between the Internet adult users’ practices on each layer in Internet public sphere from different background variables? D. What are the conditions of each layer and the whole layer of Internet communication attitude and of Internet public sphere? E. What are the effect of different background variables and the Internet communication attitude (high and low groups) to Internet public sphere?
As the results: First. The practical condition of Internet communication attitudes tends to better and, the practices of Internet public sphere characters appear medium. Second, the differences between the Internet communication attitudes of Internet adult users who have different background variables on each layer and on the whole layer, which include: A. Gender affects the “communication rationality” of the adult’s Internet communication attitudes. B. Educational level affects “righteousness” layer of adult Internet communication attitudes. C. If he or she is a learner affects the “consensus” and “truth and reality” of adult Internet communication attitudes. D. Age and professional field don’t affect the Internet adult users’ Internet communication attitudes. Third, the differences between Internet adult users who have different background variables in Internet public sphere characters on each layer and on the whole layer, which include: A. Gender affects the practices of Internet public sphere. B. Age, educational level, professional field and if he or she is a learner do not affect the practices of Internet public sphere. Fourth, the relationship between the Internet communication attitudes and Internet public sphere on each layer and the whole layer, which include: A. the whole Internet public sphere characters practices and the whole Internet communication attitudes appear medium positive relation. B. The whole Internet public sphere characters practices and the “communication rationality” of the Internet communication attitudes appears high positive relation. C. The “freedom” of Internet public sphere and the “righteousness” Internet communication attitudes appears zero relation. Fifth, the different background variables and different Internet communication attitudes (high score group and low score group) affects the Internet public sphere practices, which includes, A. “Gender” has major to Internet public sphere charaters. B. “Internet communication attitude high and low score group” also has major to Internet public sphere.
The conclusion of the research as follows, First, Internet public sphere characters practices appears medium. Second, “freedom” layer tends to better, and “rightousness” practice is not good. Third, the majority of Internet communication attitudes are not affected by the different background variables. Fourth, Internet offers the conversation space that is not influenced by social background but is unable to breakthrough the difference of gender. Fifth, applying Habermas public sphere approach on Internet breakthrough the limits of background variables.
The suggestions of the research as follows, first, to the designers and managers of distant education or Internet learning environments there are seven suggestions. A. To investigate Internet learning situation B, Applying Internet designing learning assistance system to shorten the communication differences caused by age and professional field. C. To strengthen cultivating learner’s “communication rationality.” D. According to the aims of curriculum to strengthen developing females’ “communication rationality”. E. Applying “internet public sphere characters questionnaires” to establish the evaluation system of Internet learning environment. F. Making low to build up systemization in order to protect the “righteousness” of the Internet environment. G. Helping to set model of “Internet public sphere characters” and ”Internet communication attitudes”. Second, suggestions of future researches: A. On research objects:(. 1) To sample varied websites and their Internet users. (2) Internet learning websites of regular irregular education systems and their Internet users. (3) Specialized websites for the majorities/minorities and their Internet users. B. On research variables: Further study of the relation of the problems involved of the Internet communication attitudes and Internet public sphere. C. Research methods:(1) For quantification research, adopt classical relation analysis and access analysis as statistics methods. (2) Increase the sources of research objects by the cooperation projects of entrance websites research plan. (3) Present the opinions of special or minor groups by prolonging the information- collecting period, or, by adopting purposive selection of sample collection. D. Research contents:(1) Further develop the questionnaires of Internet public sphere specialties and Internet communication attitudes. (2) Study the factors that affect the “Freedom” and “Influence” of Internet public sphere. (3) Study the factors that cause the sex difference in “communication reason”.
