本研究分析了2001年4月至2002年5月在台北地區採集的222個大氣懸浮微粒標本與49個雨水標本,這些標本經化學處理後以感應耦合電漿質譜儀及發射光譜儀分析其中所含的Al、Fe、Na、Mg、K、Ca、Sr、Ba、Ti、Mn、Co、Ni、Cu、Zn、Mo、Cd、Sn、Sb、Pb、Sc、V、Cr與As等23個金屬元素,並將分析的結果配合氣象資料來探討台北地區大氣懸浮微粒中金屬元素的濃度、來源以及傳輸機制。
研究結果顯示台北地區大氣懸浮微粒中金屬元素之濃度隨著季節的變化而有明顯的差異,對大部分的元素而言濃度的高值主要出現在春、冬兩季,濃度的低值則出現在夏季。元素富集值的計算結果顯示Al、Fe、Mg、Ca、Sr、Ti、Mn、Co、Sc、V和Cr等元素主要為地殼來源;Na主要為海水來源;K、Ba、Ni、Cu、Zn、Mo、Cd、Sn、Sb、Pb和As等元素主要為污染來源。其中Na、K、Ba和Ni有少部分是地殼來源,Mg和Sr有少部分是海水來源,Mn、Co、V和Cr有少部分是污染來源。地殼源及污染源元素在春冬兩季濃度較高主要是受到東北季風所帶來的亞洲大陸陸源物質之影響,此包括自然源和污染源。海水來源的元素在秋季的時候濃度比較高,是因為秋季的平均風速較大所致。本研究一共採集到15個與沙塵暴有關的標本,這些標本都是在春、冬兩季收集到的,幾乎所有地殼源之元素的濃度高值都出現在這些標本中,氣流軌跡回推分析印證這些標本之來源物質為大陸的沙塵。
雨水標本之分析結果顯示Al、Fe、Ti和Cr等元素主要是存在於顆粒態中,而Mn、Sr、Ba、Co、Cu、Zn、Pb和As等元素主要是以溶解態之形式存在。通量的計算結果顯示,台北地區全年大氣之顆粒通量為18.8g/ m2/yr,其中以三月份的顆粒通量最高,九月份的顆粒通量最低。大氣中金屬元素之乾、濕沈降通量之計算結果顯示, Al、Fe、Sr、Ti、Mn和Cr等元素主要是以乾沈降的方式自大氣中移除,此佔總沈降通量的70∼98%,Ba、Co、Zn、Pb和As等元素則以濕沈降的方式移除為主,此佔總沈降通量的85∼99%,Cu藉由乾、濕沈降而移除的比例各佔約50%。
