本研究目的在瞭解中西太平洋與台灣東部海域正鰹(Katsuwonus pelamis)之生殖生物學特性及其兩地間之差異,所得結果可提供該魚種資源評估與管理所需之基本參數,以期該資源之永續利用。中西太平洋海域正鰹樣本係自2001年8月至2004年1月,於我國大型鰹鮪圍網船上觀察員採樣及高雄前鎮漁港採集,樣本漁獲海域介於150°E ~ 150°W及5°S ~ 10°N間,共計取得720尾正鰹體長體重資料(觀察員採樣458尾、港口採樣262尾)與生殖腺組織628個(雄性322個、雌性308個),樣本尾叉長(FL)範圍介於30~74公分;台灣海域正鰹樣本則自2002年9月至2003年10月按月至魚市場採集。共計量得683尾正鰹體長體重資料(新港魚市場648尾、東港魚市場35尾)與生殖腺組織677個(雄性385個、雌性292個),體長(FL)範圍介於30~80公分。卡方檢定結果顯示中西太平洋與台灣東部海域正鰹性比各月別間皆有顯著差異,然總性比於中西太平洋則無顯著性差異但台灣東部海域卻有顯著差異;中西太平洋與台灣東部海域正鰹在體長32-33.9公分及大於70公分以上雄魚所佔比例顯著較高。估計中西太平洋正鰹雌雄50%性成熟體長(L50)分別為44.2及41.3公分,達性成熟最小體長則為42.4與35公分;台灣東部海域正鰹雌雄50%性成熟體長(L50)為47.7及43.7公分,達性成熟最小體長為38.2與36.6公分。台灣東部海域正鰹無論雌雄皆比中西太平洋海域之成熟體長要來的大。利用生殖腺成熟指數(Gonadosomatic index)、平均卵徑與生殖腺成熟度月別變化,判斷中西太平洋正鰹為終年產卵,台灣東部海域則為4~11月,且以5~9月為高峰。正鰹為多次產卵型魚種,估計中西太平洋成熟正鰹產卵比例為0.56,產卵頻率(Spawning frequency)為每1.79天產一次卵,台灣東部海域成熟正鰹產卵比例為0.5,產卵頻率為2天產一次,中西太平洋與台灣東部海域正鰹產卵頻率接近2天產一次。單次孕卵數(YBF)與體長(FL:公分)及體重(W:kg)之關係式分別為:中西太平洋YBF = 1.3x 10-3 FL3.00;YBF = 35.97W1.34;台灣東部海域YBF = 7x10-6 FL4.71;YBF= 15.667 W1.51,顯示單次孕卵數隨體長體重皆呈正相關。中西太平洋正鰹相對孕卵數(Relative fecundity)為雌魚平均每克體重含有66.2 ±13.5(±95%CI)粒卵細胞;台灣東部海域正鰹則為41.9 ±8.2 (±95%CI)粒卵細胞。
