科技一日千里，新式的生產科技徹底地改變全球的工作職場，尤其是網際網路科技讓企業可以跨越國界，而不必遷廠營運，無國界管理已成為常態，時空距離不再是障礙。未來的企業，必然會走向以資訊為導向的組織結構。知識工作者人數將超越從事體力及文書工作者，成為人力資源市場的新主流。
知識工作者以腦力做為投入工作的重要因素，亦是企業組織的重要資產，無時無刻不可以工作、溝通，成為目前職場上的新工作運動，工作投入越高，工作與家庭生活衝突可能越大，知識工作者如何體認此一現象？組織在管理制度設計上如何提供員工協助，以期能讓工作與家庭生活取得平衡，是本研究期望能達到的目標。

Science and technology have been developing so fast that new technology has changed all the workplace radically. Especially, the internet makes business organizations able to operate their business across national boundaries without building physical facilities oversea. Managing without national boundaries has become a normal way of business management, thus time and space distance is no longer the obstacle. The future enterprises will have an organizational structure that is information oriented. The number of knowledge workers will exceed the number of physical labors and clerks, and the knowledge workers will become the major human resource in the world
Knowledge workers using their brain power as the most important input in their jobs. They are the most important assets of the business, who can work and communicate anytime and anywhere. The way the knowledge workers do their jobs also becomes a new movement in the workplace. When they get more involved with their jobs, their work-family conflict likely become more serious. How can knowledge workers understand their situations and problems? How can the company design its management system to provide assistance for knowledge workers in order that they can gain balance between work and family? The above questions are the main topic this research intends to investigate.
