本研究主要應用書目計量學量化分析資訊科學領域之引用文獻與被引用文獻,掌握兩者之文獻分布現象及其差異,進而觀測兩者主題分布現象與變化,希冀完整地呈現資訊科學領域之重要資訊來源,及其相關之研究主題。本研究首先運用布萊德福定律與布萊德福─齊夫定律,界定引用文獻與被引用文獻之核心期刊,藉以描述資訊科學領域之重要期刊文獻來源。再者,採用LISA資料庫所提供之敘述語代表核心期刊文獻之主題意義進行統計分析,同時運用齊夫定律分析核心期刊文獻之篇名,以期找出資訊科學領域之專家學者經常採用的研究主題和字彙,並實際掌握資訊科學領域的研究趨勢與內涵。引用文獻之研究樣本取自Web of Sciences資料庫,透過Science Citation Index、Social Sciences Citation Index與Arts & Humanities Citation Index等三個引用文獻索引資料庫,跨領域廣泛蒐集1985年至2003年出版之資訊科學引用文獻,總計檢索出1,267篇有效的書目資料。本研究進而經由引用文獻之核心期刊文獻蒐集被引用文獻之研究樣本,總計獲得7,280篇被引用文獻。本研究結果歸納如下:
一、1,267篇引用文獻分布至248種期刊當中,前13種重要期刊即出版50%以上的資訊科學引用文獻;7,280篇被引用文獻則分布至1,079種期刊中,超過半數與資訊科學有關的被引用文獻刊載於17種重要期刊。因此,資訊科學引用文獻與被引用文獻的分布情況均呈現報酬遞減分散。
二、經由布萊德福定律與布萊德福─齊夫定律之驗證,得知資訊科學引用文獻與被引用文獻之文獻分布現象均不符合布萊德福定律,亦即資訊科學領域之文獻分布現象相當分散。
三、資訊科學引用文獻的文獻分布現象較被引用文獻來得分散,此研究結果將有助於累積書目計量學方法論方面的實證研究結果,藉以作為往後相關研究之佐證。
四、資訊科學領域的期刊兼具專業化與跨領域的特性。重要期刊所刊載的內容主要圍繞著圖書館學與資訊科學領域所著重的主題發展,但亦關注資訊管理、科學量化、綜合性科學主題、政治科學、社會學、經濟學、歷史、電腦科學等議題。
五、Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology、Journal of Education for Library and Information Science、Library and Information Science Research、Journal of Information Science與Journal of Documentation等五種期刊為資訊科學領域之核心期刊的核心期刊。
六、資訊科學引用文獻最常見的研究主題為專業教育。再者,資訊科學領域之學者專家則較為傾向引用三個方面的議題,包括:1.資訊工作;2.「資訊檢索」方面的相關議題;3.書目計量學與引用文獻分析。
七、運用齊夫定律所找出之具文獻意義的字彙,與資訊科學引用文獻和被引用文獻之常見的研究主題相互呼應,由此可說明,齊夫定律所定義的字彙足以顯示文獻所刊載的主題意涵。
本研究結果將可協助圖書館與資訊科學相關領域之單位,進行館藏發展之參考,亦能呈現資訊科學之發展過程與研究趨勢,有助於學術研究與學術傳播。
The objectives of this study are to investigate the scatter phenomenon by applying bibliometric techniques and to observe the change of subjects between the citing literature and cited literature of information science. This study first uses the Bradford’s Law and the Bradford─Zipf’s Law to identify the core journals of information science. Then, using the descriptors in LISA and applying the Zipf’s Law to quantitatively analyze the literature of the core journals of citing and cited literature. A total of 1,267 citing literature which was published from 1985 to 2003 were searched on Web of Science database. Moreover, 7,280 cited literature was obtained from citing literature. The results of this study reveal that:
一、The literature scatter of citing literature and cited literature on information science all show diminishing returns.
二、The scatter of literature of citing literature and cited literature on information science all don’t fit with the Bradford’s Law and Bradford─Zipf’s Law of Scattering.
三、The citing literature more scattered than the cited literature, and this result will help to accumulate the data for the future empirical studies.
四、The major characteristics of the periodicals on information science are not only professional originality but also interdisciplinary. The content of the periodicals focuses not only on the subjects of library and information science, but also on information management, scientometrics, popular science, politics, sociology, economics, history, computer science.
五、The core of the core journals identified on information science are Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, Journal of Education for Library and Information Science, Library and Information Science Research, Journal of Information Science and Journal of Documentation.
六、The subject in common use of citing literature is professional education, and the professionals on information science more prefer to cite three subjects: 1. information work, 2. information retrieval, 3. bibliometircs and citation analysis.
七、Applying the Zipf’s Law to find the content-bearing words, corresponding to the subjects in common use of citing literature and cited literature on information, shows that the words identified by the Zipf’s Law can represent the meaning of literature.
