本論文提出以 Zeeman 穩頻雷射為光源之極化光共路徑光學外差干涉偏光儀,此種偏光儀不僅架構簡單,同時結合差動放大器形成平衡偵測電路能大幅降低雷射的excess noise,而得到高的精確度以及旋光特性的即時量測能力。
論文的第一部分是建立創新之振幅敏感平衡偵測外差干涉極化儀(Amplitude sensitive balanced heterodyne polarimeter,ASBHP)並對石英晶體(cornu depolarizer,CD)的旋光性(optical activity)做即時及高精度測量。它與傳統量測方法相比較,其準確度可以達到10-8。
論文第二部分則以相同光學架構,量測右旋葡萄糖溶液的濃度,溶液中的旋光性正比於在溶液中溶質的量。在沒有散射介質的影響下,我們可以量測到30mg/dl的低濃度的葡萄糖溶液,其旋轉角度的量測精度為 deg/cm。
A novel amplitude sensitive balanced heterodyne polarimeter (ASBHP ) , which uses Zeeman laser in conjuction with differential amplifier to reduced the excess noise induced by the output intensity fluctuation of the laser and results in a higher detection sensitivity of glucose concentration detection in real time.
At first, an optical balanced heterodyne polarimeter using a Zeeman laser is setup in order to measure the circular birefringence or the optical activity or of quartz crystal of cornu depolarizer configuration. The accuracy of measurement of quartz CD of 10-8 is achieved experimentally. The second part of the experiment of which ASBHP is able to measure the optical rotation angle of a chiral medium in liquid is conducted. The rotation angle is proportional to the concentration of the chiral medium. According to Biot’s law the experimental result shows that ASBHP is capable of measuring the concentration of glucose solution at 30mg/dl in water. It corresponds to the optical rotation angle about is 1.8×10-4° of D(+)-glucose.
