本研究為探討充能介入措施對社區保健志工充能程度之成效,研究方法採類實驗型研究設計,採方便取樣,以三芝鄉及北投地區之保健志工為研究對象,共計87人,分50人為實驗組(三芝鄉),另外的37人為對照組(北投區)。實驗組接受為期三個月的充能介入措施,對照組則無。
研究結果發現,1.充能介入措施未能有效提升社區保健志工之充能程度(Z=-1.28,p=0.35)。2.充能介入後,充能程度所包含之各類別中,只有「樂觀與對未來掌控感」程度顯著提升(Z=1.90,p=0.05)。2.以質性資料分析充能介入措施之過程改變情形,發現充能介入後之成效,包括主動尋求資源解決問題、提昇保健知識及技術能力、增強團體彼此相互支持的力量、影響同儕和鄰居的參與、增強健康促進行為。
依研究結果建議護理實務方面,以充能理念加強社區保健志工領導人之訓練,依據志工之實際需求進行課程設計,透過團體式的經驗分享和學習,可有效提昇保健志工之知識和技能,且有助於樂觀與對未來掌控感的提昇。護理研究方面則建議採用縱貫式研究,延長介入期間,瞭解及觀察充能之過程及成效;同時致力於發展有效地測量保健志工充能程度之工具。
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of using empowerment intervention on empowerment level for community health volunteers. The research design of quasi-experimental study was used with convenience sampling from two communities of San-chih and Pei-tou. Subjects of this study were community health volunteers. There were totally 87 subjects in the study, 50 of them were in the experimental group who reside in San-chih county whereas the remainy 37 who live in Pei-tou section were in the control group. The experimental group received a three-months empowering intervention while the control group didn’t.
The results of this study were as follows:
1. The health volunteers who received empowering interventions did not significantly enhance their empowerment level (Z=-0.38, p=0.70 ). Among different domains of empowerment level, only the domain of “optmism/control over the furture” had increased significantly after empowering interventions has been implemented (Z=1.90, p=0.05 ).
2. Results of changes after implementing the empowering intervention for subjects that were derived from qualitative analysis were as follows: seeking resources to solve problems, enhancing their health related knowledge and skills, expanding the network of mutual support, encourage the participation of their friends and neighborhood and improving their health promoting behaviors.
The purposed suggestion for community health practicum according to results of this study is to train the leaders of community health volunteers by using the empowerment concept after assessing their actual needs. Effective way to increase community health volunteers’ health related knowledge and skills is to train them by using empowering education that is to share and dialogue in a supportive environment. Most importantly, this way can increase significantly on their empowerment level in the domain of optimism/control over the future. The longitudinal design for future study may be provide a complete empowerment process for health professionals to understand and observe the changes of empowering process for community health volunteers. Even more, the development of a specific and appropriate empowerment scale for measuring the empowerment process and outcomes of community health volunteers that comes from results of factor analysis and qualitative analysis of this study is the other suggestion.
