ABSTRACT
The purposes of this study were: a) to compare the differences of genders of participants on goal-orientation, participation-motivation and post-workout ratings; b) to compare the types of participation-motivation among in-line skating participants with different goal-orientations; c) to investigate the relationship between goal-orientation and participation-motivation and adherence and post-workout ratings in participants; d) to investigate the effects of goal-orientation, participation-motivation, and adherence on the post-activity ratings。
Two hundred and twenty in-line skating participants (boys = 178, girls = 92). Participants were asked to complete a questionnaire assessing their goal orientation, participation motivation, and the post-activity ratings. The results of the study are as followed:
(1) The results of t-test indicated that there were gender differences on task orientation, participation motivation. Specifically, female in-line skating participants had higher score on task orientation. Male in-line skating participants had higher score on competence-motivation, appearance-motivation and social-motivation than female in-line skating participants.
(2) The results of the one-way ANOVA indicated that in enjoyment, competence, fitness, participants with the high-task-oriented participants are more significant than the low-task-oriented ones. In appearance, the high-ego-oriented participants are more significant than the low-ego-oriented ones.
(3) The results of canonical correlation analysis indicated that and the post-activity ratings (enjoyment and challenge) were positively related to task-orientation, enjoyment, competence, and fitness. The post-activity rating (challenge) was positively related to competence, appearance, negatively related to task-orientation, enjoyment, competence, fitness.
(4) The results of multi-regression analysis indicate that enjoyment, adherence, and task-orientation were significant predictor for enjoyment of the post-activity rating. Competence, adherence, and task-orientation were significant predictor for the challenge of the post-activity rating.

Keywords: goal-orientation, participation-motivation, physical-activity, challenge, enjoyment, challenge, adherence.
