本論文主要針對微波成像雷達數據作資料壓縮，由於數據壓縮如要達成即時處理目的，壓縮方法就不能過於複雜。在研究時，首先針對原始數據進行分析，並利用純量量化編碼法，對原始數據執行壓縮工作，使整個數據壓縮成較低的位元數。之後，再將下傳至地面的壓縮數據進行解壓縮，以還原原始影像。除此之外，也利用向量量化編碼法進行壓縮及解壓縮工作，進行成像後PSNR比對，作為比較的依據。最後，為了加快運算速度以達到即時之要求，導入了平行處理的概念，以期提升整體程式之運算的速度。
