ABSTRACT
Aim to understand more about multi-space both in the meaning and the possibilities in expressing it visually, the researcher has taken this aim as her master’s degree study, want to attain two results: 1) A definition theoretically of “what is space”, and 2) try to create new vision of space visually. The researcher has explored the concept about space since the early historic age till present day; want to find how art works had adapted those concepts in idea for creation, contents in the art work and structure for expression. Especially the researcher had studied carefully those art works during 1966 to 2003 period, to find how they had achieved their works satisfactory or even not succeeded in their creation. After theoretical study, the researcher has reached three aspects to express new concepts in the paintings. 1) A space which positions of objects have been moved: This can be divided into two categories: “unreasonable space”and“dislocation space”. In the first space, objects are unreasonably laid in the space, the second means that the objects are been cut and moved vertically, horizontally or orthographically. The researcher wants this space could create an effect that was caused by the earthquake. 2) A mismatch space: This can be divided into two categories: “dimensional space” and “inner-outer space”. In the first space, objects are laid with unreasonably in the rare or in the front. In the second space, by using lights and shadows to create real and fantasy space effect, but still integrate together. 3) A space with angle: This can be divided into four minor categories for visual expression:”geometrical perspective space”,”simultaneous perspective space”, “different visual angle space” and” moving viewpoint space”. Geometrical perspective space means traditional perspective space. In the simultaneous space, objects that viewed from different angles but exist in a same space. Different visual space means that objects were viewed from bird’s eye, insect’s eye, flat front view and on, but exist in the same space. The final “ moving view point” objects in this space are moving in the three dimensional space, not still, therefore some if it appear big, some small and lined spirally to form an rhythmical visual order. After having the concept of the above different ordered spaces, the researcher adapt them freely for creative expressive painting. This is the most import and original creation for the researcher. Key words: multi-space, creative art work, surrealism, two dimensional, three dimensional.
