證券市場為資本迴路的一環，其場域活動也代表了社會經濟發展進入彈性累積的再生產歷程，另一方面，科技進步加速了金融全球化空間的極度擴散，而臺灣證券市場在此浪潮下，卻因為其特殊的地理環境而體現出在地特色：散戶比例高的淺碟型證券市場結構。
本研究試圖以紮根理論的研究方法，藉著文獻及深度訪談證券經紀活動的參與者，分析影響臺灣證券市場行情波動與制度變遷的事件與力量，包含了國際政治經濟情勢、與中國大陸之互動關係以及臺灣內部政治經濟與社會事件，並藉此瞭解以臺灣證券交易所、證券公司及營業員為場域中心與節點的網絡社會。
因為臺灣證券市場的交易活動皆必須憑藉著臺灣證券交易所內之人員與電腦之運作，因此，我們將臺灣證券交易所視為證券經紀活動的中心。在證券相關制度不斷地開放與變遷、外國資金進入臺灣證券市場的過程中，臺灣證券市場已超越國家的地位而成為世界金融的「區域中心」。台北地區因為是臺灣證券交易所的所在地而產生了聚集經濟的效應，在金融地景方面呈現出與國際緊密的連結，與臺灣其他地區證券市場活動的連結反而較弱。
臺灣證券經紀活動的參與者，以證券商之營業廳做為買賣證券的聚集中心，而證券商因為人、金錢、資訊與商品聚集的特性而成為證券經紀活動網絡中的節點，也因此這個因為商業行為而塑造出的臨界空間有其特殊的制度與社會關係位置，並以其獨特的場所文化操弄著人群階級的劃分。而亦被層級化的證券營業員，在此資訊、金錢所架構出以「信任」為主的人際網絡中，扮演著節點的角色。此知識經濟場域所有構成要素均透過中心與節點迅速流動，參與者是否能在混亂且快速變動的環境下，突破資訊不對稱所造成的裂隙，就成為是否贏得金錢遊戲的關鍵。

Security market, as part of the capital circuits in capitalism, has been integrated into the social and economic development of society through the use of technology. As use of technology integrating local security market into the global economy, Taiwan’s security market activities display highly localized characteristics, which can be attributed to the unique geographies of Taiwan. Among the local characteristics, saucer-like structure of security market is commonly manifested by high percentage of individual investors.
By reviewing official documents and interviewing participants in the security market activity, this paper applies grounded theory to analyze dynamics of security market activities, including global political economy, Taiwan-China relational changes, events related to Taiwan’s political, etc. Other than the macro level, we also argues that the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE), security brokers and tellers play an important role in shaping the social network of financial transactions, and thus can be deemed as nodes and hubs of the social construction of security transaction.
The TSE can be seen as the hub of the security broker activity in Taiwan. As relevant regulations of Taiwan’s security market changed constantly, financial deregulation become possible, and foreign funds found Taiwan’s market a heaven for their profit-seeking, the security market of Taiwan becomes a regional center in global finance. Taipei, as center of Taiwan’s security market, becomes more closely linked with global financial market than with the rest of Taiwan.
At the micro level, individual investors assemble in the boardroom of broker’s office to the degree that money, information and social activities seem to aggregate in a liminal space. Thus, the boardroom becomes a place that manifests the social hierarchical structure of each individual investor. In this liminal space, or place, “trust” plays an important role in shaping of broker-investors or teller-investors relations. Information flow and asymmetric information become major factors, whether the individual investor could win the money game.
