A peer-to-peer (P2P) network architecture is a network that does not use a central server for communication but instead uses mostly connections between clients directly. In traditional peer-to-peer networks, once the content providers release their digital contents, the contents is out of their control, and can be accessed or distributed by any other peers arbitrarily in the peer-to-peer network. This research will introduce a system that helps the content providers give some reasonable controls about their own content distributions after their contents have been released.

Our system is based on JXTA protocol, and is implemented as a service in JXTA-based peer-to-peer network. By using our service, the content providers can not only control and manage the distribution of their contents conveniently, but also extend our service easily to become their own special applications. In the end of this thesis, we will show two examples of extending our service to different applications.
