This research was to study the improvement topic of campus barrier-free environment from the view of wheelchair users. At present, the campus barrier-free is the trend of the current of time. In order to correspond with humanized design, researched on barrier-free environment of the campus is very necessary. Reviewed the enforcement of barrier-free facilities, it have been for more than 30 years, but these barrier-free facilities are often not the needs of the disabled person when it finished. One of the major cause is that planner never entirely understand the needs of the disabled person. Therefore, this study is that through literature study to research on planning and design for barrier-free environment of the campus. Besides, it is also to research campus barrier free environment by case-study. Although the new multi-storied building of school of law has been past the inspection on relevant laws and regulations, the barrier-free facilities can improve or not, it can be worthy of study. So we especially invited Dr. Hsu-Huei Huang (He is also a disabled person on wheelchair and his laboratory is on the 6th floor in the new multi-storied building ) to try using barrier-free facilities. Then, we asked him how he feels about using barrier-free facilities and researched weather it is convenience when he reached school for class. By this exercise on the spot, we can understand the existing barrier-free facilities and research all kinds of problem. On the view of wheelchair users, to observe weather barrier-free facilities are suitable and to better understand the needs of wheelchair users and to make up the Record Sheet. To observe and fill out the Record Sheet item by item, the observation result has discussed together with individual views and past experience. Besides, To move oneself on wheelchair on the spot, it can really understand the feeling of body movements on wheelchair in space and the importance to wheelchair users, meanwhile, to help examine weather it can be improved and submitted a suggestion. We hope that all design were considerate of wheelchair users. Finally, collected and sort out necessary data, analyzed the data and wrote this report. Then made up 「Campus Barrier-free Improvement Check List」 and provided this study as a reference when schools plan to improve campus barrier free environment in the future.
