The 32-bit RISC machine (ARM) processor has become a popular design choice due to the features such as low power dissipation, high performance in computation, and integration capability. In this thesis, we employ the 32-bit RISC (reduced Instruction set Computer) machine as the development platform to design the image capture system with I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) interface. We can control ADCM-1650 CMOS image module via I2C interface, and capture/store the image data in the JPEG format via 8-BIT data bus. The peripheral I2C-interfaced device will not affect the functions of the others when it is removed from the system. Therefore, debugging and maintenance of the system are easy and feasible to achieve. The proposed system can be applied to automobile anti-theft system, remote surveillance system, mobile phone, security surveillance system, and etc.
