In the knowledge economic age and hyper-competition industrial environment, knowledge is the critical asset for firms because it can help firms to sustain their competitive advantage. In Taiwan, SMEs usually take industry-university cooperation with the innovation incubator center to capture required knowledge. Therefore, the research purpose of this study is to explore knowledge creation which SMEs generate among industry and university and the innovative performance.
This study bases on social capital and organization learning theory to infer the relationship between knowledge creation and innovative performance. The researchers conduct a questionnaire survey with the innovation incubator centers to test research hypotheses. The research results reveal that social capital has significantly positive relationship with organization learning ability; organization learning has significantly positive relationship with knowledge creation; social capital does not have significant relationship with knowledge creation; knowledge creation has significantly positive relationship with innovative performance. In addition, organization learning has a mediate effect among social capital and knowledge creation; organization learning has a mediate effect among social capital and innovative performance. According to relevant literature and empirical findings, the research can provide the management practice and future research aspect.
1.The encouragement and support by Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, MOEA for the SME innovation incubation policy is truly helpful to the industry-university coordination for SMEs in innovative R&D.
2.It is necessary for SMEs who want to acquire and create knowledge by industry-university coordination that devote to interact with universities and establish enough social capital.
3.The creation of skill knowledge and the performance of knowledge transference can be accelerated through efficient organization learning ability.
4.Because the extra learning in industry-university coordination is focusing on the development capacity, instead of inner knowledge creation, SMEs should notice the balance among knowledge creation and knowledge acquirement.
5.The empirical data are belongs to cross section, so the following researches can use on vertical section data to analyze.
