摘要
本論文從句法和語意的角度討論台灣手語的否定形式。首先整理出台灣手語三十七個否定詞項的構詞形式和句法表現。在否定詞項構詞形式中，有加綴法、複合詞形式、及不規則的形式。而否定詞的分布情形，否定詞項可以和動詞、名詞或形容詞搭配。最後在非手勢動作表達中，我們依三十七個否定詞項在句中的非手勢表達整理出所觀察到的非手勢表達的形式和其一些臉部表情可能的搭配情形，常見的非手勢表達有：搖頭、舌頭搖動、嘟嘴或嘴角下拉。
有了以上的基本整理後，進一步討論以下兩個議題。第一個主要議題是探討台灣手語否定詞項“沒有”與“不”的表現情形。首先，在台灣手語否定詞項“沒有”與“不”的句法分布情形中，分別就否定詞項“沒有”與“不”與動詞、名詞、及形容詞的分布情形進行探討。再者，台灣手語否定詞的語意搭配情形。在此議題下分別討論動詞種類與否定詞的搭配，以及主語的有生性與否定詞搭配。首先，根據Vendler（1967）所提的四種動詞分類，我們討論了台灣手語四種動詞種類和否定詞的搭配情形。目的是希望從否定詞項“沒有”與“不”可以搭配的動詞語意中找出否定詞項“沒有”與“不”的潛在語意。
第二個議題是台灣手語否定詞項“沒有”與“不”在動補複合詞形式中，其否定形式如何表達。希望進一步證實台灣手語否定詞項“沒有”與“不”的不同語意。首先我們先整理出台灣手語動補複合詞的形式的表達和句法特徵為何？再者，討論台灣手語動補複合詞的否定形式為何呢？動補複合詞和否定詞選用關係為何？將否定形式依其語意分成一般否定形式（如“沒有”和“還沒”）和情態否定形式（如“做不成”和“沒辦法”）進行討論。
總括來說，本論文討論了否定詞項“沒有”與“不”，並將此概念應用到動補複合詞的結構中，進一步證實了兩者的語意差異在於：否定詞項“沒有”的語意是一般的事件否定用法，而否定詞項“不”是情態的否定用法。
