A white-light illumination panel with high brightness using two-wavelength white organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs) was deposited on Indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate by high vacuum evaporator system. In our study, the device configurations of WOLEDs using multilayer structure were ITO/m-MTDATA (550 Å)/NPB (400 Å)/TDAF : Rubrene (M Å , red emitting)/undoped TDAF (100-M Å , blue emitting)/TPBI (400 Å)/Mg : Ag (1500 Å) with various thickness of red dopant, providing a blue-light emission from emitting layer.
Effect of the thickness of emitting layer on the optoelectronic performance of WOLEDs has been systematically investigated. Evidence shows that the optimal WOLED has the quite stable CIE coordinates performance. It was suggested that the created excitons under different operating currents could be effectively confined within a short distance at the junction of TDAF : Rubrene / undoped TDAF. The optimal white-light OLED with CIE coordinate of (x = 0.32, y = 0.32) was realized by using a 10-Å-thick TDAF : Rubrene layer associating a 90-Å-thick undoped TDAF layer.
