為了支援無線網路裝置的行動性,無線網路裝置通常會使用電池來做為供電來源,但是電池的電量十分有限,且只能維持無線網路裝置一定時間的運作。因此產生了許多無線網路省電的相關議題。
有很多的研究利用排程的方法,避免資料在空氣中傳送時發生碰撞,並增加頻道的使用率。但是大都這類的排程方法都是由中央控制,儘管不是中央控制,也都無法讓排程的狀態轉換次數最小,因此仍舊無法有效的節約電力。由於大部分的排程方式多半都只考慮到要減少控制封包的傳送,而都忽略了無線網路裝置的狀態轉換。因此我們覺得狀態轉換次數若能夠成為排程的依據,勢必能夠有效的減少無線網路裝置不必要的耗電,畢竟在狀態轉換的時段,無線網路裝置並無法做任何的動作,對網路的產能也並無助益。
因此為了讓無線網路裝置能有效的利用有限的電力並兼顧網路傳輸的效能,我們提出一個可以運作於Multi-Hop環境下的省電媒體存取控制協定,利用狀態轉換次數來作為排班的依據,讓省電效果能更加的顯著,使得無線行動裝置不但能省電,更能提升網路傳送的效率,且讓無線行動裝置的實用性與方便性大幅提升。
In order to support the mobility of the wireless network device, the wireless network device usually use the battery to supply power. But the electric consumption of the battery is very limited, and can only maintain wireless network device short time operation. So the relevant topic of wireless power saving appears.
Much research utilizes scheduling method prevent data from colliding in the air, and increase channel utilization. But this kind of scheduling methods are all by central control. Though scheduling is not the central control, can't reduce translation times of scheduling either, so unable to be effective to save the electricity. Because most scheduling method only consider that will reduce control package, and neglect translation of wireless device. So we think if translation can be regarded as the basis of scheduling, the electricity of wireless device can utilize effectively.
For make wireless device to be effective with the limited electricity and raise throughput, we propose a power saving MAC protocol that can be operated under Multi-Hop environment, and utilize translation times to economize more electricity. Make wireless device not only can economize the electricity , but also can improve wireless transmittion rate. And improve the practicability and convenience of wireless mobile device.
