In the book “The Practice of Management.” Peter Drucker (1989) mentioned that being the only dynamic element of the company, the quality and performance of managers determine the fate of the company. In face of an increasingly competitive environment in the epoch of knowledge economy, the role people plays in an enterprise gains more weight and important than before and becomes the key to a success of enterprise. As a result, this study was aimed to explore the competency management and organization performance for mid-manager in logistic industrial. This research surveys the logistics enterprise with capable and talent for mid-manager to better performance the current status of their operations, characteristics and problems.
The survey was conducted with 230 questionnaires respect to logistics Mid-manager, return is 55.6%. Through statistical analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistic, and regression analysis. In this study, we identified competency includes concept skill, human skill, leadership skill, administration skill, and professional skill. How Mid-lever manager’s competencies influenced organization performance was found. the results illustrated it’s not necessary those five management competencies have significant influence on organization performance and management competency;Concept skill and professional skill have relation on perceived organizational performance. In contrary, perceived market performance is not necessary support with these research hypotheses. And these relationships are moderated significantly by Industrial Environment such as market turbulence and technological turbulence; expect that market turbulence and technological turbulence are found to have significant moderating effect on the relationship between competency and organization performances.
