ABSTRACT
The environment continues to influence and split up one’s self-consciousness. However, in order to sustain in the environment, one’s self also has to change accordingly. At that instant of compromise, the self is absorbed by the environment. Perhaps even one’s self is not able to identify which is the “real self.” People coexist with the environment since birth, and the environment have molded each person’s unique personality. It is easier said than done to abandon the fact that the self is absorbed by the environment and pursue the individual real soul. Self-consciousness continues to be vagrant in one’s body, and one can only search for its trails by separating from the reality and looking into one’s subconsciousness, dreams, or past experiences. As time changes, the author’s self-interpretation in his work also changes. This paper < Self-Consciousness Is Gradually Disappearing > examines the author’s work from 2003 to 2006 and also introduces and analyzes the characteristics in each illustration. The first chapter explains the motive, the goal, and the method of creation. The second chapter focuses on the author’s personal background and his creation experiences. The third and fourth chapters perform explanation by separating the author’s work into the main body and the background (i.e. the individual and the environment). The main body section has two parts: the fracture of the physical body and the blankness of the mind. The background section is also divided into two parts: the imagery collage creation and the linear intertwining. In each chapter, there are examples of artists with similar styles and also comparative analyses with the author’s work. The fifth chapter discusses the author’s work in a holistic manner and serves as the conclusion. Keywords: remains blank, self-consciousness, environment
