一般機構之動力源有許多是馬達,且設計上均使馬達作等轉速輸入,藉由連桿之拓樸構造與尺寸的設計來滿足所需之運動輸出。若是輸出運動要求在時序上有所變化,往往須重新設計尺寸甚至得改變機構的拓樸構造才能滿足要求,變轉速機構即是此背景之下的產物。藉由伺服控制方法設計馬達以變轉速運轉,使原機構在尺寸不改變之原則下達到不同的運動特性要求。
變轉速機構之應用,其共同的假設為伺服馬達能完成所需之運動特性。然而此要求若出現在大型機械,會導致伺服馬達功率極大,於成本考量上,會使變轉速應用受到限制。針對此問題,設計出所有可能低桿件數目之切換機構藉以在扭力不足或速度過低時,依照慣性補償的原理,藉由切換機構達成切換動力源以符合所需之運動特性曲線,以補充馬達扭矩之不足,並以創意性機構設計為基礎,定義輸入與輸出要求,組織適切的設計限制,發展一系列可行方案。

Change to turn soon the application of the mechanism, it the assumption that is common can complete for the servomotor the exercise characteristic that need. However this requests if appears in the large machine, will cause the servomotor power biggest, on the cost consideration, will make to change to turn to soon apply to be subjected to the restriction. Aim at this problem, design to switching mechanisms of the probably low bar number of items eyes by with at the torque shortage or the speed lead low, adhere to inertial in expiation of principle, match the exercise characteristic curve that need by switching mechanisms to reach to Switching the motive source, to add the shortage that the motor torque , and take the creative design of mechanisms as the basic, define the importation and output the request, organize the pertinent design restriction, developing a series can go the project.
