本研究之目的在探討諮商員之人格特質、宗教信仰、自我效能和諮商表現彼此之間的關連性,並以此變項提出影響諮商表現之因果關係徑路模式。在諮商表現之評量上,本研究突破過去研究範疇,以社會他人所認知的諮商員角色行為,作為調查諮商表現之依據。
本研究將諮商表現區分為「角色內之行為表現」和「角色外之行為表現」。「角色內之行為表現」面向又包括:諮商關係滿意度、諮商員行為滿意度、諮商員效能滿意度、晤談感受滿意度,這部份由「個案」填寫。「角色外之行為表現」面向又分為:助人行為、敬業精神、職業道德、工作倫理,此部分由單位主管填寫。
研究對象是以台灣地區120所高中職學校之274位輔導教師為研究樣本,與之施測「人格特質量表」(NEO Personality Inventory Revised),包括神經質、外向性、開放性、和善性及嚴謹自律性五個向度;「信仰成熟量表」(Faith Maturity Scale)分為對人之愛與對神之愛兩個向度;以及「自我效能量表」 (Counseling Self-Estimate Inventory,COSE),包含歷程技巧、困難個案、多元文化、價值覺察四個向度。
研究結果發現現職之輔導教師在諮商工作上的表現評價良好;並且發現諮商員之人格特質強而有力的直接影響諮商表現;宗教信仰也會直接影響諮商表現,但是自我效能對於諮商表現卻沒有顯著上的影響關係。使用結構方程模式統計學理,驗證本研究所提出之諮商員之人格特質、宗教信仰、自我效能與諮商表現因果關係模式是可以被接受的。
This research seeks to explore the relationships among personality traits, religious faith, self-efficacy and counseling performance and to postulate a causal model among these factors. With regard to counseling performance, this research attempts to break the constraint of past research by extending the counseling performance to include the role behavior as perceived by other relevant people in the society.
The counseling performance is assessed by two indicators: in-role performance and out-of-role performance. The in-role counseling performance refers to the client’s satisfaction with the counselor, his/her counseling behaviors, efficacy, and the interviews. This part was filled out by the clients. The out-of-role performance refers to the counselor’s behaviors beyond his/her official job descriptions: helping acts, dedication spirit, professional ethics, and work ethics. This part was filled out by the immediate supervisors of the surveyed counselors.
The subjects of this research included 274 full-time counselors from 120 senior high schools and vocational schools in Taiwan. The personality traits were assessed by applying NEO Personality Inventory Revised (NEO-PI-R) in five facets: neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. The religious faith was assessed by applying the Faith Maturity Scale (FMS) which measures religious faith in two dimensions: love of God and love of men. The self-efficacy was measured by Counseling Self-Estimate Inventory (COSE) including processes skills, ability to handle difficult cases, multi-cultural compatibility, and value system awareness.
The results showed that the evaluation of the current counselors is overall positive and the personality of the counselors has a strong direct impact on their counseling performance. The religious faith also has a direct effect on counseling performance while self-efficacy does not. According to the theory of structural equation modeling based on latent variables, the theoretical cause-and-effect model among personality, religious faith, self-efficacy and counseling performance as postulated in this study was shown to be tenable.
