Customer compliance is important to us nowadays due to many societal problems, such as high-fat diets, poor physical fitness, smoking, and alcohol abuse. Petty and Cacaioppo (1996) indicated that the leading causes of death could substantially reduce, if people would change particular behaviours, such as non-compliance with health behaviour, poor diets, lack of exercise, smoking, and alcohol and drug abuse. They also suggested that each of the behaviours is inextricably linked with marketing efforts and the reaction of consumers to marketing campaigns.
The purpose of this study is to provide a conceptualization of the weight loss service delivery process for services, in which consumer compliance outside the organization is necessary to accomplish a successful service outcome. Followed by, empirically examining the concept and the model. The weight loss service organization, which customers participate while within the service organization must also comply with her role, once outside the weigh loss service organization, and thus will attain goal attainment and satisfaction.
The investigation included the mandatory role of the customer in the delivery of service, and especially compliance services. Understanding the role of the service provider in contributing to the likelihood of customer role adherence is useful for consistency in bringing successful outcomes (Dellande, Gilly, and Graham, 2004).
The provider characteristics identified as useful in gaining customer compliance are expertise, attitudinal homophily, and persuasive communication. Customer attributes necessary for compliance are ability, role clarity and motivation.
This study shows that compliance with healthful behaviours, such as consuming a nutritious diet, does lead to goal attainment and satisfaction. The study will be helpful to providers in ensuring consumers to achieve the desired result when they enrol in the service.
