奇幻文學以神話原型為基礎，支撐起奇幻世界的一片天，超脫現實的想像，揮灑自如。同樣地，科學幻想也源於神話幻想，神話將原始思維引導到科學思維乃至科學。
在凱‧麥爾的《威尼斯三部曲》中，研究者發現了神話的遺跡，作者引用埃及、希臘羅馬神話以及聖經故事開拓了自己的新神話。凱‧麥爾在神話、歷史、傳說的研究與學識，讓他有取之不竭的創作元素與想像。創造出擁有水后、魔鏡、人魚、飛天石獅的魔幻威尼斯。除此之外，還打造出有別於一般認知的地獄景象與黑暗主宰。透過主角梅勒的魔幻冒險，隨著空間與場景的轉換，一步步邁向成長與啟蒙之路。
本研究一開始先探討神話與奇幻文學之間的關係，並針對文本中的神話，對照原生神話與改寫的部分做比較與分析；另外就文本中魔幻情節、特殊角色與第二場景的部份再做深入的探究。
研究者最後在結論部分，就改寫神話對文化意涵及讀者的影響力作進一步的分析，新舊神話之間應有明確區分的需要。其次，針對魔法的創作，作者必須掌握特定的元素與要件，才能創作出具有獨創性、令人耳目一新的魔法。最後，將神話、魔法與科學三者之間的關係作探討，這三者並非全然的平行沒有交集，因為神話與魔法的啟迪，讓科學研究有更多題材與動力。

The Fantasy literature is based on the myth, detaching from the reality and freely exploring a fantastic world. Similarly, scientific illusions come from the mythical illusions. The mythology guides primitive thoughts to the scientific thinking and even to the science.
In the “Trilogy of Venice” by Kai Meyer, the researcher has found the vestige of the myth. The author has quoted from myths of Egypt, myths of Greece and Rome Greek and the stories of the Holy Bible to open up his own mythological work. With the knowledge and study on the mythology, the history and the legends, Kai Meyer has inexhaustible imaginations and ideas for his work, creating a magical Venice world consisting of the aqua queen, the magical mirror, the mermaid, and the flying stone lion. In addition, he creates different scenes of the Hell and the evil ruler which people are not familiar with. With the conversions of the spaces and scenes, the protagonist, Meiler takes the path to the initiation and the maturity through his magical adventure.
At first, the research treats the relationship between the myth and the fantasy literature, and then makes a comparison and analysis of the original myths and the adapted myths of the researching text. Besides, the researcher makes a further study on the magical plots, special characters and the imaginary world of the text.
In the conclusion, the researcher makes a further analysis on how rewriting mythologies influence the cultural meanings and readers and finds that it is necessary to clearly distinguish between the new and old mythologies. Secondly, the author must grasp the specific elements and therefore create the original magic which makes people surprised . Finally, the researcher probes into the relationship among the mythology, the magic and the science and finds that there are more subjects and motives for the study of the science because of the inspirations of the mythology and the magic.
