Abstract
This study is conducted in action research and tries to investigate the possibilities of children poetry teaching of life education. It practices on the fifth graders, adopts the children poems as the teaching materials and aims at the improving of life education. Through the contents and meanings in the poems, this research tries to help students to understand and care about their families, and to influence their study and interpersonal relationship. Furthermore, it concerns about the issues of death, talks about the basic and suitable concepts about death, and let students learn to express themselves. After the teaching activities, it also tries to find more feasibilities on children poetry teaching of life education and provides the outcomes as the references for succeeding research. In order to achieve the study goals, the data and materials collected in this research include the students’ notes, study assignments, compositions, questionnaires, and the researcher’s teaching introspection, observation on the teaching situations, and visit records of parents and students. With all the data and materials, it surveys the students’ behaviors, thinking, the changes in their problem solutions, and the combination of children poems and life. Through three months and thirteen poems, the teaching reveals some important outcomes: 1. Thirteen poems can be induced into three aspects: care and consideration, death education, and loneness. 2. It shows obvious improvement on students’ study and their relationships with people and family. The students have primary understanding to the death and they know to cherish their own life. After the lesson of loneness, they can express their feelings and release the pressure of isolation. More care and accompany to them, more improvements and smile they can get. 3. The most obvious influence in this research is the improvement on the interaction of the students and their family. It also effects the students’ relationship with their schoolmates, promotes the interests in study. To death education, it only produces some responsiveness, it must take more time to discuss and to understand every student’s thinking. 4. The students are involved deeply in the children poetry teaching of life education. According to the research outcomes, the researcher also provides some suggestions for the children poetry teaching and life education in the future.
