"The Wife Of Villon"," The Declining Sun " can be said to be a best work of feminine monologue of the later period of Dazai Osamu.Feminine monologue is thought that it is the feature of Dazai literature.These two works were drawn in the postwar time. Furthermore, subject or figure characteristics of a chief character of two works were similary. And the characters in "The Wife Of Villon"," The Declining Sun " were considered Dazai Osamu’s alter ego. Therefore, I analyze the monologue and compare "The Wife Of Villon" and " The Declining Sun ". This article consists of 5 chapters. In Chapter 1, I introduce the motive and goal, the range of my study and the research. In Chapter 2, I make use of the keywords like "settle the dispute", "work" to analyze about self-consciousness and identity of the heroine (Otani’s wife) of " The Wife Of Villon". Furthermore, I also analyze the figure characteristics of the husband (Otani) of the heroine with the monologue of Otani’s wife . I also investigate the narratives like "the family", "happiness", "God and the feeling of guilt" which were concealed. In Chapter 3, I make use of the keywords like "the destination", "the rose", "woman’s life" to analyze about self-consciousness and identity of the heroine of " The Declining Sun". I deal with the figure characteristics of Kazuko’s mother, Kazuko’s brother Naohaji, Kazuko’s lover Uehara Jiro, Uehara’s wife. Furthermore, I examine reality of the love that Kazuko talked, the letter that Kazuko wrote to Uehara, Naohaji’s diary. In Chapter 4, I compare "The Wife Of Villon"," The Declining Sun " with the subject and the characters. I also investigate the change of the places brings the change with the heroines’s feeling and action. Chapter 5 is the conclusion, I arrange the points which I discussed so far and I compare these two works which are not discussed so much. It is very important decipherment the post-war literature of Dazai Osamu.
