摘要

蒙田以哲學的目光，觀察和思考大千世界的眾生相，芸芸眾生，林林總總；他從古希臘一直觀察到十六世紀，從法國一直觀察到古代的埃及和波斯。他博學多能，期待人們可以從古代知識中，擴展自己的視野，並在當代予以反省及思考。對許多人類共同有的思想和感情，提出了自己獨到的，有時似乎是奇特的見解，給人以深思、反省的機會，能提高人們對人生的理解，以及提供更多元的思考方向给現今的台灣教育現況。蒙田的教育思想，對於後來法國啟蒙思想家以及洛克與盧梭影響很大。
蒙田的哲學思想從懷疑論開始，導向對自我的探索，並從自身擴而及於所有的人，可視為人性的學校，可以因此獲致精神上的獨立，確認本來的面目，得到真正的智慧、幸福，並認為最美的生活就是普普通通，合乎人道，順乎自然的生活。其教育思想從人文主義的觀點作出發，主張廢除體罰，關注多元文化議題以及生命教育議題，並尊重個別差異。最特別的是他對性教育和旅行教育的觀點。
延伸蒙田的哲學與教育觀，對台灣教育具有幾點重要的省思，包括：理性與判斷力的培養，擴大社會的視野，以及順乎自然的精神。

Abstract

Montaigne's philosophical vision was focused on observing and pondering all living things and the infinite universe. He observed continuously from the ancient Greece to the 16th century, observed continuously from France to the ancient Egypt and Persia. He had whole knowledge about ancient culture, he expected that we can expand our eyesight from ancient knowledge, moreover, we can reflect and think in the present age. He proposed his original ideas, sometimes as if they were the unusual knowledge, also these thoughts and feelings made human have opportunity to think deeply and to make self-exploring. Montaigne's thoughts made the people better to understand human life. As well as it would provide the more multi-dimensional thoughts to nowadays education in Taiwan. Locke and Rousseau were deeply affected by Montaigne's educational thoughts.
Montaigne's philosophical thoughts started with skepticism, expanded from oneself to all people, may regard as the human natural school, and therefore obtained the spiritual autonomy, confirmed our true self, obtained the true wisdom and happiness. Besides, Montaigne advocated the idea that most beautiful life is ordinary, conformed with the humanity, adjusted natural life. Montaigne's educational thoughts shared with the viewpoint of humanism, he advocated abolishing the corporal punishment, concerning multicultural subjects as well as life educational subjects, and furthermore he respected the individual difference, especially, Montaigne's viewpoint of sex education and travel education.
Extended from Montaigne's viewpoint of philosophy and education, they have several important suggestions: cultivate the abilities of reason and judgment, expand one's vision about society and world, and keep natural life.
