The commercial recordable compact disc (CD-R) and recordable digital versatile disc (DVD-R) have the high-to-low change in reflectivity before and after recording. We adopt the commercial dye (super-green) for CD-R to produce the DVD-R disc and the reflectance has the low-to-high phenomenon.
In this study, we probed into the effect of the low-to-high DVD-R by varying the optical density, writing power, reflective layer and the groove depth of the substrate. To understand the phenomenon of the low-to-high polarity, we test the experimental disc by using the DDU-1000, optical density tester (ETA-RT), atomic force microscope (AFM) and the thin film design software (TFCalc). We also generalize a better parameter for manufacturing the low-to-high DVD-R disc. And the CNR value of the disc can satisfy with the requirement of the DVD-R media (CNR≧45dB).
