Abstract
According to the previous theories and literatures, the residents will incline to migrate when they are not satisfied with their living environment. In the study, we will understand the motives for the movement of the residents in Tainan City and deeply discuss the relationship between the living environmental satisfaction and the tendency of the re-migration. The objects of the investigation are the parents of the students in eighteen junior high schools in Tainan City in the study. 937 samples are gotten. The results of the study are as follows: (1) From the questionnaire, it is obtained where immigrators come from, where are the southern Taiwan at highest percentage (92.6%), in which the movement in Tainan city is higher than Tainan Country. It is shown that the immigrators prefer the migration of the short distance, and have the characteristic of the obvious regional concentration. The motives of the immigration of the interviewees from previous residence are purchase of new houses, education for their children, and for getting married. The motives Motives for moving into their now-residency are purchase of the new houses, education for their children, the convenience of transportation, getting married, and the good quality of the environment in order. It is obvious that the movement into the migratory factor that the interviewees who move into Tainan City is the importance of purchase of the houses and education.
(2) Concerning the aspect of the satisfaction degree of living environment, those who are satisfied are more than those who are not. If we see from item by item, the interviewees are least satisfied with the parking spaces, the condition of the roads, and the convenience of public transportation. From district to district, the dissatisfaction degree of the residents of Annan District is higher than that of other administrative districts of Tainan City.
(3) From the analyses of the re-migration, there are 58.2% of interviewees who are satisfied with their present living environment, and they do not want to move another places so far. There are 15.7% of interviewees who are dissatisfied with their present living environment, but they do not want to move. The reasons for their not moving assumes to be hopeful that their living conditions may improve, or that they have gotten accustomed to their current living conditions. 3.6% of interviewees can not move another place because of their occupation, education and finance. In additional, 22.5% interviewees consider the movement, which results from the housing, the bad quality of the environment and their children’s education problem, etc.
(4) There are obvious differences in the satisfaction of the living environment due to different personal background. It is obtained that the differences in the satisfaction of living space depend on the level of education, occupation, family monthly income , time span of living in their current homes, type of house, and ownership of house. The differences in the satisfaction of living environment depend on the level of education, family monthly income, and the time span of living in their current homes. The differences in the satisfaction of transportation facilities depend on the sex of interviewees, level of education, and time span of living in their current homes. The differences in the satisfaction of medical facilities and cultural environment depend on where the interviewees live. The differences in the satisfaction of recreational environment depend on the time span of living in the interviewee’s current homes and the different districts they live in. The differences in the satisfaction of convenience of shopping depend on family monthly income of interviewees, types of houses, and districts they live in.
(5) In the analyses of the relationship between personal background, characteristics, and tendency toward re-migration, it is found that the tendency toward re-migration the future negatively depends on the time of residence, the ownership of houses, the living environmental satisfaction for interviewees in Tainan City. In other words, they will not move to another less when living for longer time, having the houses entirely, or being more satisfied with living environment.
