本論文的寫作目的，主要在透過通假字的研究，增進對《莊子》一書的理解。第一章首論研究的動機和目的。第二章藉由對《莊子》的成書年代和分篇，了解《莊子》一書的流傳現況，以決定本論文所選用的主要研究文本，並了解《莊子》書中前後文用字不同的理由。第三章主在討論通假字的問題，釐清通假字的定義，以及通假字和本字的關係。第四章《莊子》通假字字例研究，參考前人對《莊子》書的研究，以及切語和上古的聲韻，了解通假字在《莊子》書中的使用情形。
第五章結論，一方面討論通假字產牛的背景及在閱讀古籍的重要性，一方面統計通假字在《莊子》書中出現的情形，以了解古人使用通假字的情形，最後針對本論文提出檢討。

The purpose of this thesis is to increase the comprehension of Zhuang Zi(see Reference One) through the apprehension of Tong-Jia-Zi.(see Reference Two)
Chapter One：The motive of this thesis
Chapter Two：By way of the times that Zhuang Zi was accomplished and those chapters to know how Zhuang Zi is circulated nowadays in order to decide the main text adopted in this thesis
Chapter Three：The definition of Tong-Jia-Zi and the connection between Tong-Jia-Zi and its original character
Chapter Four：To know how Tong-Jia-Zi was used in Zhuang Zi through some examples referring to the previous researches of Zhuang Zi , so does the phonetic notation and tones of ancient Chinese
Chapter Five：The conclusion-- introduce how Tong-Jia-Zi was made and the importance of reading ancient books; and the numbers of times that Tong-Jia-Zi were appeared in Zhuang Zi. Some reviews of this thesis as well

Reference One: Zhuang Zi─ A book that shows the main thought of a Chinese philosophy master Zhuang Zi who thinks that one’s mentality shouldn’t be affected by outer objects or issues
