Faced with the new curriculum to be implemented for the academic year of 2006, vocational schools are again forced to reduce the hours of machine shop practices. This study delves into the lathe practice program of the mechanical engineering department. Based on the purpose of helping students pass the technician certification test, it introduces new course contents and schedule and employs computer-aided teaching.
The author presents the fundamental skills required of a lathe technician, as well as a feasible progress schedule. For the computer-aided teaching program, the author collects fundamental skill operation forms, technical test work forms and written test databanks.
Due to the fact that there have never been literatures on computer-aided teaching pertinent to fundamental machine shop practice courses, this paper may help computerize transmission of mechanical techniques and inspire future education and training instructors
