電腦適性測驗(Computerized Adaptive Testing，簡稱CAT)的曝光控管方法有很多，目前實務上最常使用的是The Sympson & Hetter (1985) procedure (簡稱SH)，SH雖能有效控管試題曝光率，但在實際施測前須先迭代模擬曝光參數，非常繁瑣費時，此外，當曝光參數的模擬情境和實際施測情境有出入時，SH的控管成效便會大打折扣；為了改善此缺失，Chen (2004)與Ju (2005) 建議使用線上控管法－Modified LV method (簡稱MLV)與SH_online procedure (簡稱SHO)。此類線上控管法的特色是不需事先迭代模擬曝光參數，便可在線上直接控管試題曝光率，此外，由於無須事先迭代模擬曝光參數，線上控管法的控管成效不會受施測情境異動所影響。
MLV與SHO雖能改善SH的缺失，提高曝光控管的效率，但在施測初期，考生人數不多時，其曝光控管成效並不理想，針對這個問題，Chen & Liao (2005)建議將Freeze程序加入SHO中來改善，此法稱為The SHO procedure with Freeze (簡稱SHOF)。
為了評估SHOF的控管成效，本研究進行四種曝光控管方法的比較，此四種方法分別為SH、SHO、MLV、SHOF。研究結果顯示，當模擬曝光參數的情境與真正CAT施測情境相符時，四種方法的控管成效隨著考生人數增加而趨於相似，當考生人數為10000人時，四種方法的控管成效相近皆能妥善控管曝光率；但在施測初期，考生人數不多時，四種方法的控管成效就有明顯差異，唯有SHOF可有效控管曝光率，其他三種方法都不能確保試題的最大曝光率在安全範圍內；此外，當題庫異動或施測母群改變時，SHOF的控管成效仍不受影響，施測初期的曝光率仍能獲得穩定控管，整體來說，SHOF明顯改善SHO與MLV在施測初期控管成效不彰的缺失，應可當做實務上曝光率控管的重要參考。
