本論文探討自然化栽培五種韮蘭屬(Zephyranthes spp.) 植物(白花蔥蘭、黃花蔥蘭、小韮蘭、大韮蘭、Z. ‘Ajax’),對斷水(澆水、浸水)催花、修剪、土壤、遮光與草坪混植之開花與生長反應。結果顯示,最佳處理組合為澆水次數越多、斷水時間越短(200 ml/1 week)或浸水3 cm(根系最長)。花期與降雨(涼溫)之關係,經迴歸檢測發現,五種韮蘭屬植物在雨後6~8天開花。

修剪雖減少球根營養生長與花數,若能調整修剪時間,例如在花期前不修剪或延後修剪,便有機會營造草原花壇景觀。

棲地土壤與遮光方面,顯示球根具耐高濕與中度耐鹼,遇酸性土壤則生長轉弱,而自然介質中以坋土表現最佳,其次為水田土、河砂、海砂、沼澤土與腐植土,但上述結果受盆器大小影響而有不同排序,花數與營養生長的反應也不完全一致。25 %遮光清耕盆栽下花數較多,且隨遮光程度增加而延長到花日數並減少營養生長。

盆栽混植草坪試驗顯示,百慕達草、朝鮮草花數最多且營養生長最強,而百喜草則最差。無百慕達草及朝鮮草的參試條件下,露地混植草坪修剪處理,假儉草組的球根營養生長最強,而地毯草最差,顯示植株矮小與葉片質地纖細的草坪,較有利於韮蘭屬植株之開花與營養生長。五種參試韮蘭屬中,黃花葱蘭與大韮蘭較有潛力應用於草原花壇。
This study is aimed to explore the feasibility of naturalized culture of five Zephyranthes(Z. candida、Z. citrina、Z. rosea、Z. carinata、Z. ‘Ajax’) in subtropical environment. The experiments were designed to develop the techniques of naturalized gardening of Zephyranthes that include water withholding (different watering modes), flower forcing, cutting, soil types, shading and mixed culture with turf. Flowering and vegetative growth were observed that shows the more watering and / or the shorter water withholding, the more flowers bloom. Relationship between flowering date and rainfall (temperature drops) shows very good prediction of flowering time that always happened 6-8 days after rainfall.

Although cutting may reduce vegetative growth and flower number of Zephyranthes, proper timing such as to avoid cutting or to delay cutting after flower season, yet there is chance to create flowering meadow.

Experiments on habitat soil types and shading show Zephyranthes has high tolerance of moisture and medium tolerance of alkaline, but little tolerance to acid soil. Silt shows the best performance followed by rice paddy clay, river sand, seashore sand, marsh land soil and leaf mold, however the results are also affected by the size of containers. The results are not consistent in different growth containers.25 % shading of pot culture with weeding treatment gives the maximum flower number. Days to flower is increased and vegetative growth decreased with increase in shading extent.

Mixed culture with turf in containers shows treatment with Bermuda and Zoysia gives the highest flower number and vegetative growth, but poorest in Bahia treatment. Without Bermuda and Zoysia, mixed culture with different turf in the filed under regular cutting shows consistent trend that the finest grass Eremochloa ophiuroides gave the best results in terms of vegetative growth and poorest in Axonopus compressus. It seems shorter and finer grasses impose less competition pressure on Zephyranthes and therefore gave the better performance. Z. citrina and Z. carinata shows the best potential in application of flowering meadow.
