In the 1990’s, Hong Ying, an author in China, published her lengthy autobiography, “Daughter of the River”, which touched people all over the world and won Taiwan’s United Daily News “Best Book Award for Scholars” in 1997. She is a shining star in the literature field, but in real life, she is troubled by lawsuits. Her subjects are unique and her novels are controversial. However, the public is more interested in her personal life than her novels. Only recently have more and more people began devoting their time to researching her novels. Despite all of the difficulties that she has encountered in her life, she is still persistent in writing. She uses her own unique writing style and wrote “fictitious women”, “real me”, “honest someone ”, “fictitious men and Women”, “fictitious men”, and “rewrite Note Novel”. She is now working on rewriting “Flowers of Shanghai.”. This thesis is focused on the author’s personal life and her novels. It examines how she became a famous writer, not only in China, but around the world. This thesis also discusses how personal life and personal experience can affect an author’s works. In addition, this thesis also analyzes her article’s main theme, character images, character relationships, and literary narratives. This thesis thoroughly discusses the author’s personal life and her novels from every respective.
