本研究主要目的是從跨國主義的角度，來探討臺灣出生的外籍新娘子女，在面對鄉土（母親與父親原居地）認同上有無展現其跨國性的思維，瞭解這些族群在臺灣和原居地社會之間，教育與身分及文化認同情形。探究外籍新娘子女在跨國婚姻的架構下，是如何形成其對鄉土的概念及認同感。
研究者採用質性的方法來研究議題，針對蘆洲市某國小高年級的四位外籍新娘子女及其母親，進行深度訪談與觀察。以外籍新娘子女的鄉土認同為核心，家庭教養、家庭社會網絡、父母社經地位及條件、母親的調適與適應、與原居地的連繫為主要的影響因素，探討外籍新娘子女在不同文化間對鄉土認同的影響。
透過四對來自菲律賓、柬埔寨、印尼及越南的外籍新娘及其子女做深度訪談後發現，受訪者外籍新娘的跨國性思維似乎沒有那麼的明顯，尤其是小孩子更不顯著，這是值得深思的問題。強勢及均質的臺灣文化、兩地生活條件的差異懸殊、原居地親友的鼓勵與期盼、傳統婦女宿命思想，以及本身的經濟能力不足等原因，都影響到她們跨國主義思維的展現，更影響孩子對兩地的認同。在小孩方面，父母扮演著重要的角色，他們亦會受到母親居留臺灣時間的長短、家庭對文化認同的態度、同儕群體的影響、母親婚姻的動機與經驗，以及與原居地連繫的緊密程度等因素所影響。
本研究將以多元社會與族群融合的矛盾性為主軸，做為本文的反省與討論，並希望能引起社會大眾的重視，在學校教育及課程規劃上廣泛的討論。最後針對政府、社區、學校、老師、家庭教育工作者及未來研究等方面提出若干建言，期盼跨國婚姻家庭能獲得更多的理解與支持，使這群新臺灣之子能快樂成長茁壯。

The purpose of this research is to explore, through transnationalism, if the foreign brides' children, born in Taiwan, own the transnational thinking on indigenous identification (mother and father's host land) and how is their education, identity and culture identification between Taiwan and the host land society.

The objects of this research are four foreign mothers and their senior-grade children of Lu-Jou elementary school. Through the qualitative method, including I-depth interview and observation, we investigated how different cultures affect their indigenous identification. The key factors for this influence are family education, family social network, parents social/economic status, mothers' adjustment and adaptation, the relationship with the host land.

After conducting interviews with the foreign bride families who came from Philippines, Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam , we found foreign brides are apparently weak in international thinking, even more significantly for children.. This issue is worthy of taking into serious consideration. The main reasons for this result are the great advantaged/equal quality Taiwanese culture, the big difference of living condition between host land and Taiwan, the encouragement/expectation from the host land families and friends, the traditional women's belief of destiny and insufficiency of economic ability. Furthermore, it also influences the children's identification of the host land and Taiwan. The parent play the critical role to the children on the duration of mothers' stay in Taiwan, the family attitude to the cultural identification, the peer group, motivation and experience of mothers' marriage, and the close relationship with host land.

It is hoped, from this research, to hold public attention to reflect the contradiction of multicultural and integrated society and to bring the broad discussion of school education and course planning . Finally, according to the research findings, this study provides some suggestions to the government, community, school, teachers, family education workers and available directions for the further studies. It is also expected to improve the mothers and children's life by more understanding and supporting to transnational marriage.
