This study aimed to design a social referencing intervention activity for young children with autism and to investigate the intervention effects.
A single subject research method with multiple probes across setting design was adopted .Three children with autism participated in this study. A parent of each subject, two graduate students with early intervention background and one graduate student with special education background served as trainers.

The research findings were as followings:
1. This study indicates that the intervention principles of calling children attention, verbal or nonverbal prompting, time-delayed prompting, distancing and slowly presenting play materials to inhibit children impulse improved their social referencing.
2. After intervention, all three children show immediate and maintenance effects of social referencing.
3. Two children carry over intervention effects from first two trainers to third trainer.
