X3D從發表以來已經發展了一段時間,儘管X3D所涵蓋的領域相當廣泛,卻只有非常少的X3D應用是可以在手持式裝置上運作。這是因為手持式裝置本身的限制,如有限的中央處理機和記憶裝置、缺乏圖形加速器以及作用大的開發環境。然而,手持式裝置一直不斷的在其性能上獲得改進,直到最近手持式裝置終於達到可以支援3D圖形的階段,也許X3D實作於手持式裝置的時機已經到來。X3D是否需要對其規格作調整,以及目前將X3D應用於手持式裝置上的效能是否已經為一般使用者所接受,都是這篇論文所要探討的內容。
X3D (Extensible 3D) has already developed for a period of time. However, there are only few X3D applications played on mobile devices even though X3D applications are in a broad range of application areas. That is because mobile devices have some limitations such as limited CPU and memory, lack or limited performance of graphics accelerators, and lack of powerful development. However, mobile devices are getting improvement in performance all the time. Now, the evolution of mobile devices has already reached an optimistic status that mobile devices are able to support 3D graphics just very recently. Maybe it is time to make X3D on mobile devices. Whether X3D needs to make some adjustments in its specifications or not and the performance of X3D applications on mobile devices are the core of this thesis.
