焦慮疾患與憂鬱疾患的初發年齡主要在青少年期,許多研究指出親子關係會影響焦慮疾患與憂鬱疾患有關的焦慮與憂鬱情緒。過去國內研究在探討親子關係與焦慮、憂鬱情緒大多沿用國外親子關係的理念與分類方式,忽略社會文化差異與家庭型態對親子關係的影響。本研究使用符合華人家庭文化現況的親子互動關係的理論模式與測驗工具,試圖更清楚反應親子關係對青少年焦慮、憂鬱情緒的影響。此外,親子關係會影響青少年的人際壓力因應,而人際壓力因應也會影響青少年焦慮、憂鬱情緒。然而,此三者的關連卻未有研究進一步的探討。因而本研究假設人際壓力因應是親子關係與青少年焦慮、憂鬱情緒間的中介必須變項且進一步加以檢驗。
本研究採橫斷式實驗設計,研究對象為606位青少年,施以親子互動關係量表(短版)、人際壓力因應量表、青少年憂鬱情緒自我檢核表、修訂焦慮特質量表。並根據Baron and Kenny(1986)對中介必須變項的準則進行檢驗。
研究結果發現:(1)此分類理念確實能有效將青少年的親子關係區分成親慈子孝、親子中庸與親嚴子恣三種類型;且三種親子關係類型的青少年其焦慮情緒、憂鬱情緒皆有明顯的不同,其中,親慈子孝型的青少年焦慮、憂鬱情緒最低,親子中庸型的青少年次之,而親嚴子恣型的青少年焦慮、憂鬱情緒最高。(2)人際壓力因應為親子關係與青少年焦慮、憂鬱情緒間的中介必須變項。(3)母親對於青少年焦慮與憂鬱的影響比父親來得更為重要。其中,相較於不良父子關係,不良的母子關係對於青少年的心理健康更為不利,屬於母嚴子恣型的青少年,其焦慮與憂鬱情緒也最高。
The onset of either anxiety disorder or depressive disorder is in adolescent period. Many studies found that parent - child relationship might induce anxiety/depression of adolescent. Most studies which explored parent – child relationship and anxiety/depression in Taiwan ignored culture difference between east and west. They only used the model and classification system of parent – child relationship of Caucacian culture in their studies. For adjusting culture difference, the study used the model and assessment scales which fit to Chinese culture to test the relationship of parent – child relationship and anxiety/depression in Taiwan. Furthermore, the study also test whether interpersonal stress coping is the mediator between parent – child relationship and anxiety/depression.
The cross-sectional design was utilized for testing hypotheses of the study. Sixty hundred and six adolescents were recruited. They filled out the parent-child interaction relationship inventory (short-term), the adolescent interpersonal stress coping inventory, the adolescent depressive mood self-evaluation checklist, and the revised trait anxiety inventory. The criteria of mediator established by Baron and Kenny’s (1986) were used to test the mediating hypotheses of the study.
Results revealed that (1) the model of the study classified the parent – child relationship into three subtypes effectively. The subtypes are the benevolent parent-filial child subtype, the general parent-child relationship subtype and the severe parent-unbridled child subtype separately. Moreover, anxiety/depression among three subtypes was different ominously. The benevolent parent-filial child subtype had the lowest level of anxiety/depression, oppositely the severe parent-unbridled child subtype had the highest one. (2) The adolescent interpersonal stress coping was a mediator between parent-child relationship and anxiety/depression. (3) The mother – child relationship was more important than the father – child relationship for activating anxiety/depression. Furthermore, comparing with poor father-child relationship, poor mother-child relationship was more unfavorable to psychological health. Comparing with other parent –child subtypes, the severe mother-unbridled child subtype tended to exhibit the highest level of anxiety/depression.
