The study explored the changing process and discovered different types of styles and works at different times of Puyuma music, from its ancient melody to popularity. The purpose of the first paragraph was to explore the development of Puyuma music. In order to understand the uniqueness of its traditional music, the study investigated the materials observed both by the Puyuma tribes and other researchers, and traced back to the times of World War II. Furthermore, the study described how the traditional music had been influenced by western music education since the war and how it developed into modern ballads on the basis of the techniques of the traditional styles, such as the works written by PangTer and Baliwakes. Furthermore, how could the ballads sung by the employees of forestry bureau give rise to the concept of collaborative composition. Besides, Kimbo’s works and singing styles integrated the taste of western pop music. Isao rearranged the Puyuma music with the elements of technology and music. Nan-Chang Chien and other tribes reorganized the music into choir forms. Pur-dur and Jye-Renn Cheng merged the traditional music into popular ballads, which was even awarded by the Golden Melody Award. In the second paragraph, the study probed into the swift of the styles from repertory by selecting pinuLiyangedayan (Victorious song)and emayaayam(Songs for women's completion of weeding), and the works composed by Baliwakes, miamiami dai maidang(Song for worshiping ancestors)and bulai naniyam kalalumayan(Beautiful rice grain). The study compared and analyzed the same works with different ways of performing and transcription, trying to generalize the meanings of the audio information and moreover, to observe the changes of the Puyuma music at different times and to reveal the process and the feature of the Puyuma music, from its ancient style to a modern one.
